Annie: Hey. Check this out. Merv Griffin’s game show about playing crosswords is taking over NBC!
Slezak: 3 down: idea for a really boring TV show
Slezak: 5 across: cure for insomnia
Annie: 7 across: W-H-Y
Slezak: ALOL
Annie: What is the A?
Slezak: Actually. (I made it up.)
Annie: I was thinking "audibly" because I don’t use LOL, I use AL (audibly laughing).
Slezak: That works too.
Annie: No, it’s redundant, like this game show and sort of this convo.
Slezak: 4 down: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Annie: 8 across: You’re drooling
Slezak: 6 down: You’re lazy
Annie: 15 down: I have my dictionary in my lap
Slezak: 34 across: Hit song by Enya!
Slezak: Why did I type that?
Slezak: You’re deleting half of my comments, right?
Annie: Yeah, I’ll definitely delete that one about Enya.
Slezak: 44 down: Rapid cancellation.
Annie: 710 down: It’s 7:10. I’m out of here.

Hey guys, crosswords are hot right now! Didn’t you see WordPlay (great documentary)? Didn’t you see the WordPlay folks kiss up to Oprah by making a completely Oprah-specific crossword puzzle? Don’t you know that doing crosswords keeps your brain going strong? At least watch the show before you bash it. It could be good.
Funny write-up, by the way.
Speaking as one of the Wordplay folks that didn’t kiss up to Oprah (unless she likes “It Might as Well Be Spring” as much as I do), I would like to go on record that the online demo of the game looks very promising, and I’m hoping I’ll be allowed to compete.
lol, you’re two are crazy!! lol
More, more, more (IM’s that is)!
OK, sorry Annie, but this popwatch topic is dull. So I’m hi-jacking this blog thread, and asking that you, Slezak and the rest of the Scoobie gang to get on the case of “DayBreak Limited”, starring the very fine Taye Diggs. And, since Taye is tagged to be on the Grey’s spinoff, I hope you’ll accept this assignment. If so, check out DayBreak on the streaming video’s at ABC.com (pay no attention to the funny dates in which the shows are listed). But DO TELL us IF/WHEN we might get the last two episodes of this really confusing series online.
Would you do this for a Scooby snack?
SideNote: Smoking Scooby snacks makes watching this show a blunt better.
Hey I liked the TV game show Scrabble when it was on (ages ago). If they do it like that, it might be interesting. It could be worse. It could be a game show based on Sudoku.

Me, I’m looking forward to the sweeps stunts:
3 across is an eight-letter word for “explosive”… and it’s on fire! Blindfolded contestants must finish the puzzle based on clues they can only taste! Aimee the Crossword Vixin dangles over a pit of wild emus!
Come on, guys, we’re talking nonstop, nail-biting drama here.
Let’s see, I like crossword puzzles, I like game shows, hmmm. I CAN’T WAIT!! Yeah, I’m a nerd, what of it.
Also, Jon88, there is an online demo of the game? Where?
It’s a trailer at the programpartners site. Assuming I can put a link here: http://snipurl.com/xwddemo
I’ve seen this show, when it was called “Wheel of Fortune.”
Jon88- I just watched the demo and it looks cool. My whole family has been hooked on crosswords since we saw WordPlay. I wonder how hard it will be to spell things out loud? I tend to do better when I can write things out.
I’m a gigantic dork who loves crossword puzzles, wheel of fortune, and Jeopardy, so I’m guessing that I would really enjoy this show! Awesome!
