Please, make the lambs stop screaming! No more Hannibal Lecter movies! The prequel Hannibal Rising is due out next week, on Feb. 9, so I’ll reserve judgment on that film. But producer Dino de Laurentiis has told MTV News that he’s already considering another Chiantifest. And he even suggested that, in this hypothetical umpteenth movie in the franchise, our young flesh-eater may get lucky with a more mature female character (played in Hannibal Rising by Gong Li)—ewww.
Good God. First of all, I don’t want to see Hannibal Lecter getting laid. Second, while Manhunter and The Silence of the Lambs were revelatory experiences, things started to go downhill with Hannibal. And, really, nobody—not even Brett Ratner’s mom—was asking for Red Dragon. So when are they gonna stop? What’ll be next, a 3-D version? Remember: It happened to Jaws.

Ok, for the record, Red Dragon was a pretty good movie. I rad the book years ago and when i saw Manhunter I was so disappointed. But the movie Red Dragon is true to the book, both in name and feel, and it works more cinematically than Manhunter. Don’t get me wrong, i love me some Michael Mann, I just wasn’t all about his William Peterson-starring clunker. But on a final note, I agree, please let the Hannibal movies stop.
Seriously, if people didn’t know Brett Ratner had directed “Red Dragon” there wouldn’t be a fraction of the hate.
Frar couldn’t agree more. But as much as I love her and the actor playing Hannibal whose name escapes me. I think this needs to be the last one.

I agree. Much of hollywood is squeezing every last dollar with sequel mania. Let’s stop with the horror movie sequel craze: Saws, Chucky’s, Freddy and Jason, and let’s not forget Mike Myers. Let’s infuse some new blood into that tired old franchise.
I thought Hannibal was okay, if only for helping to revive Ray Liotta’s career. Besides (SPOILER) it was fun to watch the Ray Liotta eat his own brain and the kid on the plane eat a piece of it at the end, and I had the pleasure of seeing the movie in the Union Station movie theater (here in DC), where part of the movie was filmed.
I have a rule. The only sequels i will ever watch are the Godfather 2 and Superhero movies (for some reason i’m okay with those sequels.) but no sequels for anything else, no saw 2 or 3, no more lechter movies… after silence of the lambs. you know what, i like it that way, I save a lot of time on mediocrity.
The Silence of the Lambs is a classic. It still creeps me out. Hannibal was such a disappointment that I didn’t even bother with Red Dragon and I’m not going to bother with Hannibal Rising.
I agree no more hannibal movies! Enough already! I’d even say no more prequels. They never live up to the original.

WHAT?? No more?? Are you trying to hurt me here?? Hannibal Lechter movies are brilliant in their humor. In Manhunter, removing that cop’s scalp and making him eat his own brains?? I laughed so hard I thought I would lose it! These movies are elegant and amazing to watch. I can’t believe anyone would want to see an end to them…unless you like movies like Shrek and think those are brilliant…then I would get it.
for those of you with out brainswho like watching mindless crap, I expected comments of this nature. Watch and read the novels you may then understand that not all in these movies is about scaring people. I would believe these movies come in the catergory of physcological thriller, but then i guess that would invole some people thinking. There are sub plots to all of these films so just dont assume it is about people getting eaten and killed. Look into the physcie and discover the true tallent Thomas Harris has and what a ggod job the directors have done. Please either grow a brain or leave what you dont understand alone.
