'O.C.' Deathwatch: Julie's engagement offers are a-blooming

Oc_scott_flowers_lBefore I begin another chapter of the Trail of Tears, let’s all say hi to my high school friend from the Chicago ‘burbs, Scott (pictured), who played the flower delivery guy last night! How cute is he? As usual, I’d been way lax about reading MySpace bulletins, so I had no clue this was coming. Imagine, two of my great loves – The O.C. and People I Enjoy In Person — colliding on-screen! And his line went like this: "Julie Cooper?" It took me a good half hour to recover from the wonder of it all.

Anyway. the episode. Not lovin’ everything. Major offenders: Che, Taylor’s unnecessary and over-the-top therapist, Che’s meditation, the sudden advanced-stages love triangle among Julie, Frank, and Bullit, Che’s new moonchild/groundhog girlfriend, and finally, Che. But whatever. It’s fun looking at Che if you don’t bother listening to, or processing whatever’s going on with, him.

Plenty to dig, though. Kiki is pregnant! Agghhh! This is awesome. Iwish they’d devoted more of the ep to that and the other characters’reactions. There’s time for that, I guess. BUT NOT ENOUGH. Taylor andRyan’s Darth Vader-esque co-stalking ("What are you wearing?") thrilledme to my molten-chocolatey core. Sandy’s mail truck surprise played outperfectly, especially because we didn’t know what he was hunting aroundNewport for, either. My most-appreciated tiny detail was in Kaitlin’se-mail to Bullit: ”I’m so excited your coming home." Ha! Ofcourse she’d F that up. And as usual, my fave line of the night was anaside that had nothing to do with the plot — when Che asked Seth if heliked Sno Cones, and he replied, "My favorite flavor is cherry, but mydad’s is blueberry." Hee! He threw in a chuckle over the word dad’s for no reason.

Aww. I’m choking up. Somebody get me a fresh marg! What did you think about last night?

last weeks episode was a let down…thank heavens this week was much much better. i was beginning to think the show was gonna go down with a bust instead of a bang. i love taylor, but she crazy! her therapist was lame, though.

Annie! You crack me up! I couldn’t agree more! I was so happy to see Che hit the road! The therapist and that whole story line was silly, i enjoyed the stalking but the rest was just out of place! Keep up the great work! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the last 4! Then i think you probably better replace this work time with blogging about Friday Night Lights – mmkk??? Have a great weekend!

Better then last week. But not enough Cohen’s for the last 5 episodes. I agree they should have done more with the pregnnt Kirsten part, and less Che. Worst part Frank Arggh and yuck (maybe a slim maybe if we had a whole season to get rid of him). Also Ryan called Kirsten Your(seth’s) mom again – not enough episodes left for this, it feels so rude when she never calls him seths friend who lives in the pool house.

My favorite line was when Sandy said he could’ve been in the CIA and Seth leans forward and says, “I hear they’re known for their birthday parties.” Fabulous.

Two of my great loves, The OC and people I enjoy in person… Annie you crack me up. Scott is hot!

Best line of the night was the nod to Oscar noms, with Taylor describing her mom as “Idi Amin with fake boobs.”

Why do the OC creators have a tendency to create characters that are so damn unlikeable? No other show I ever watched has created so many down right annoying characters that you happily watch go into that dark night…Oliver and his craziness, Lindsey and her constant crying, Johnny and his patsiness…and now Che. Oh Che, leave, we will not miss you much. Didn’t really care about the therapy story line either, but love Taylor and Ryan. Watching Ryan be a layered human being, not the emotionally closed off angry Ryan that was Marissa’s boyfriend, is so refreshing. And the Kirsten having a baby…love it. Actually wish there was more show so we can watch them have another baby…giving Seth and Ryan a baby sibling. Tear. Too bad…but am glad over for the vast improvement over last weeks episode. And I agree w/ Jem…Sandy and Kirsten are Ryan’s parents too, it’s time they consistently make that distinction.

first..Scott..how lucky r u to have such a hott friend!!! second..I LOVED this ep even though it sets up so many coming storylines which must be resolved in 4 EPISODES…how r they gonna do it?? I pray that Josh writes the final ep and that we get some closure!!! and third…I love Che maybe ’cause I love Chris Pratt but he adds comic relief and Adam can actually play the str8 guy…am so gonna miss this show!!

Am I the only one who is disappointed that Kirsten is preggers? The pregnant mom story arch is always so lame. Oh well, there’s only a few episodes left…

  • annamarie

yeah… who cares about therapist who by the way was rachel’s psycho boss who was in love with chandler and handcuffed him to the chair in friends! thought that was interesting.. but more Cohen family.. and seth&summer action pleaaase!!!

  • Andrew

Scott made that episode. I can tell his years of acting school have paid off. “Julie Cooper?” was delivered better than Tony Montanas “You wanna go to war”

  • BB

The show was better than last weeks, but I was more disappointed that there wasn’t more Ryan/Taylor time. OK…actually more Ryan time would be enjoyable. Che is beyond tiresome, Seth/Summer-change each week, Julie’s boyfriends are pretty dumb….But it’s all ending and I don’t want that either. Although the actors seem a bit tired of the whole thing themselves. I guess it’s time to say good-bye for good.

  • Darius

Well, the ep was a bit lame. And weird at the end! #1: Che becomes heterosexual again… ew!, thanx Fox-cesorship…. #2: Kiki pregnant an only 4 eps left??? WTF??? #3: Pleas giv us some Ryan-fistfight! I was hoping, he hits the costumed Taylor!

  • Jenn

My favorite line was supplied by Taylor: “bullcrap!”
