Who doesn't appreciate who? I've heard nothing but positive comments from Pierce about how great a gig Bond was, including the paychecks that have allowed a great lifestyle for him and his family, but its over and time to move on. And afterall, they're the ones who dropped him, not vice versa.

The question is: How can the sequel be faithful to continuity as well as to the characters and to what they've been through in the first movie? And how can anyone imagine to keep this without the on-going relationship between Catherine and Thomas? They love each other, they are together now against all odds, escaped together in an airplane, probably to Europe, the police knows about Thomas being an art thief. Here you have the perfect start for "Topkapi". Thomas Crown becomes Harper and Catherine Banning becomes Elizabeth Lipp. Okay, maybe variations of it. I really can't understand why Brosnan, St.Clair and Irish Dreamtime don't take this route. Why do they need a different affair for Crown? I guess it needs a really good twist to get rid of Catherine's character or you take the arrogant way and simply ignore the fact that she was the perfect match for Crown. I still hope there is a faithful way to go on, but I'm a bit sad about it.

Newsflash Brosnan: The reason "The Thomas Crown Affair" is one of your favorite movies is because of Rene Russo's performance.
Without her, I have no desire to see it.

I love the Thomas Crown Affair - it is the coolest movie. It is so funny this article was posted today - I just heard Barack Hussein Obama (our next president!) saying this was one of his favorite movies! LOL!

I love "Thomas Crown Affair", thought it was much better than the original, but do we need (or want) a sequel? And how can they do it without Rene Russo? I'm concerned, but I'll see it anyway.
