So much TV, so little time, and most importantly, not enough space on my faux-TiVo. (Thank goodness the networks have started streaming their shows the next day on their websites.) Seeing as a "wintery mix of snow and rain" is predicted for Manhattan this evening, here’s my plan for staying warm and entertained for the evening.
8 p.m.
How cute and adorable was America Ferrera at the Golden Globes? I’ve been a fan of hers since Real Women Have Curves, and I fully admit to bawling my eyes out during her climactic scene in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. She’s the frumpy heart of ABC’s Ugly Betty, and the main reason for tuning in tonight — plus, the masked woman is finally unswathed! Over at NBC, however, Dwight is still out, and Oscar is (back) in at The Office — which is sure to sure to result in some typically painful/glorious moments that you’ll watch to savor.
Watch: Ugly Betty
Stream: The Office
Record: The O’Reilly Factor on Fox News (with guest Stephen Colbert; see below)
9 p.m.
Was there a more sappy and "aw"-worthy TV moment last week than Alex telling Addison he screwed up McSteamy’s latte because he was rude to her? I think not. (Trust me on this — my roommate made me rewind and watch the scene over and over four times). This week, Grey’s upteenth romantic triangle gets a new twist when we find out about… an aborted baby? I can’t wait. But hold on, ABC, the other networks aren’t going down without a fight. In the tradition of Buffy and The Simpsons, NBC’s Scrubs is offering its own all-music-all-the-time episode, as Avenue Q’s Stephanie D’Abruzzo checks into Sacred Heart. And over at CBS, Liev Schreiber (pictured, with Marg Helgenberger) joins the cast of CSI as Michael Keppler, a seasoned agent temporarily taking the place of Grissom as William Petersen takes some time off for a teaching sabbatical.
Watch: Grey’s Anatomy
Record: Scrubs
Stream online: CSI
And of course:
11:30 p.m.
Bill "Papa Bear" O’Reilly takes on the Colbert Nation as he and Stephen Colbert swap guest appearances for the evening. Can he handle the truthiness? Who knows — but whatever happens, tonight’s Colbert Report (Comedy Central) will definitely be one to remember.

Scrubs is offering “it’s own” all music all the time episode? For the kazillionth time, “it’s” is a contraction standing for “it is,” and “it is own” makes no sense. The possessive form is what you want, as in “Scrubs is offering its own all music, etc., etc.” Got that? My fourth grade daughter has a handle on it, and I expect you guys to as well. Rant over!
Agreed, Katie – I was about to rant about the same thing.
Also you forgot The O.C. at 9 p.m. – the final episodes!
Hello! The OC!!!! Only six episodes left in the show that is having its best seasons in years!!!!!
::sigh:: this is why it’s getting canceled.
Too bad NBC doesn’t stream The Office… ABC does stream Ugly Betty though. Switch it.
Stream The Office and watch Ugly Betty instead?! Are you kidding me?! Not only is Dwight gone, not only is Oscar returning finally, but according to the promos, there could be a major turning point happening with JAM when Karen asks Jim if he still has feelings for Pam! He can’t lie forever!!
Sorry Betty, you’re a cute show, but the genius that is The Office wins every time. (and I still can’t believe it was robbed at The Globes, BTW)
Hollaback, Katie V! I was just about to comment on the same thing.
I gave ‘Ugly Betty’ a chance, but it’s just not as funny as ‘My name is Earl’ or ‘The Office’-nothing on that show can touch the last two episodes of ‘Earl’, especially ‘Our Cops Is On’-brilliant!
I’ve got a similar jam because the Office and Earl are on at the same time as Betty. So I watch Betty live and Tivo the NBC shows until after 30 Rock. Around 10:20 the dial gets switched over to Telemundo for Desiciones, a show that features great scandal and scantily clad actors.
Colbert may be worth watching, but I’ll wait until tomorrow to hear if he kicks O’reilly’s heinyken the way Jon Stewart bytch slapped Tucker Carlson on Crossfire.
is there a official way to stream the office? I don’t think so. Just illegal copies uploaded to video sharing sites.
The idea of watching the “scrubs” musical is laughable. Why not just take out your Buffy Season 6 dvd and watch the musical episode of that show? You’d get twice the quality, twice the fun.

Officetally.com reports that the producers cut of tonights episode of The Office will be online after the original airing. I however will be catching it live. Oh and no mention of the OC? Lame.
NBC doesn’t stream the Office, but you can download missed episodes a couple days later off of iTunes (which I had to do last week after a TiVo malfunction)….
Since im never home until after 10, i dvr my name is earl, the office, scrubs, 30 rock and smallville (yes i know its horrible but i cant stop).. i wait a couple of days after to watch Ugly Betty online… its really annoying cause Ugly Betty really is soo much better than smallville…
Wait a minute–tonight’s episode of Smallville didn’t make the list? What are you thinking? It’s the debut of the Justice League! If that’s not appointment TV, you should turn in your signal ring and/or cape.
I have Comcast On Demand, so I will DVR both “Grey’s” and “Scrubs” at 9:00 (won’t be home), and catch CSI On Demand tomorrow. As for The O.C., I think that you can watch episodes on http://www.myspace.com-fox. Oh, and of course I’ll be DVR-ing “Ugly Betty” (more Justin, please!) and “My Name is Earl.” And to the poster who said that last week’s episode, “Our COPS is On,” was brilliant, kudos to you. Once the COPS episode was on, I think I laughed non-stop!
Seriously, no OC? And who still watches CSI?
Who does still watch CSI? They made such a big deal about Gil leaving in the previews and it’s just temporary!! And the shot of an SUV driving off into the desert wasn’t even him…it was Catherine and Nick. I have to admit I watched that one but not anymore. I just started watching Earl and Office this season and I laugh out loud during both. That’s a rarity with sitcoms.
I haven’t done this all season, but tonight Smallville is getting recorded and watched live. It’s the formation of the Justice League! Come on. That is an event worth watching live.
I don’t watch CSI, but plenty of people do: It gets more than 25 million viewers per week and is always rated in the top-3. The OC, while it has been enjoying a creative resurgence this season, barely gets around 5 million viewers per week.
Anyway, tonight goes down like this: Watch Ugly Betty, DVR The Office, Watch Grey’s, DVR 30 Rock, watch O’Reilly on Colbert (sorry, I can’t bring myself to contribute to the O’Reilly Factor’s ratings, so I’ll catch Colbert’s appearance on YouTube or something).
Whither The O.C.?
No love for Smallville? Come on, it’s the JUSTICE LEAGUE!!
Is this the Justice League with my main man Guy Gardner as Green Lantern? If it is, you may turn me into a Smallville fan yet…
Smallville lost me when they killed Pa Kent. Only the appearance of Bruce Wayne himself will ever make me watch that show again.
As for Ugly Betty, I still can’t force myself to watch it. Something about that show rubs me the wrong way…
Well, if no one else will mention it here, I will…
Colbert on O’Reilly was a hoot…As usual, Papa Looufa was clueless that Stephen was mocking him BIG time.
O’Reilly then followed up Colbert with Bernard Goldberg (whom Jon Stewart evicerated on “The Daily Show” a while back) to make “fair and balanced” criticism of “The Colbert Report”…that’s right…they were criticizing a parody of a pundit show for not being serious…maybe this is why no one takes Faux News seriously anymore, either.
Time to settle in to see what Stephen does to Bill on his show…
BTW, O’Reilly should be suspended (or fired) for stating that kidnap victim in Missouri was “having fun”…Hmmm…I never considered molestation “fun”, Bill…but I guess YOU would…
NBC’s comedies were terrific tonight. From Earl to The Office to the Scrubs brilliant musical to 30 Rock (The shots of Brian Williams’ dressing room-priceless), Thursday is again “Must see TV” on NBC
Uh… hi… you forgot The OC, which is probbaly why its getting cancelled… worst timeslot EVER!!!
WOW! Last night’s The Office was awesome (though I prefer Kim over Pam), Earl was high-larious, 30rock was goofy fun AND Ugly Betty had the reveal of the year! I was totally broadsided by the ending of last night’s Betty!
