How unspeakably awesome is Ugly Betty’s Becki Newton? Yeah, I know her reaction shots — like that gag-reflex response looking at Betty’s shoes during the Mode Christmas party — are worthy of an Emmy nomination on their own, but did you notice that on last night’s episode, Newton performed double duty as Mode’s trollop-in-chief Amanda and MYW’s bespectacled, braces-wearing Ruthie? (Yep, that’s really her; ABC confirmed it to PopWatch.) Seriously, I was howling so hard at Newton’s makeunder, I had to rewind to catch her best line: "My rosacea flares up if the elevator even stops at [Mode's] floor." Of course, that was a distant second to Amanda’s assault with a deadly handbag at episode’s end. LOVE HER! All together now, slow clap. Beck-i! Beck-i! Beck-i!

I was rolling on the floor when Becky decked Salma with a purse in the elevator. It looked like a little old lady fight with ladies in their mid to late thirties.
Oh my gosh, was that her? I would not have guessed it! I thought whoever played Ruthie did an awesome job. Becki is hilarious. Someone give this woman an award!
I keep seeing this Olive Garden commerical that’s more than a year old, and I keep thinking “Wow, that girl who plays the hostess looks a lot like Becki Newton from Ugly Betty.” I have no idea if it’s her or not. Then again, I don’t really know how her career was going over a year ago. Anyone know?

I actually thought Ugly Ruthie looked a lot like on of the many other Ugly Betty’s from years past, which was the first thing that made me giggle…until I realized who it was!
I knew it! She’s Amazing. My fave reaction last night was Mark screaming and falling to the floor when opening the armadillo.
I absolutely love to hate Amanda, she is by far my favorite character on the show, save for the sometimes cold hearted character played by Vanessa Williams. Actually, I love the whole cast of that show. Between the wonderfully sassy older sister to Willameena’s gay assistant, I can’t go more than 7 days without Betty’s beautiful cast. Save for Walter, the schlubby cheater with a penchant for universal remote controls.

I’ve got to stop reading my new issue of EW while watching television ! God is in the details and they’re kind of missed when you’re busy agreeing with every word of Lisa Schwarzbaum’s critics ! I Love Ugly Betty. I find it’s a show with heart, humour and a general feel good theme that’s the perfect antidote to the procedurals and the overwrought dramas. In adition, everyone gets redeeming quality, which makes you sort of cheer for them. Wilhelmina as vulnerable – and that means wearing a smoking pair of jeans! Amanda’s assault with the handbag; bossman’s christmas tree trimming with the Soarez family… Next thing you know, Mark, between conniving and living vicariously through the glamour of his fabulous boss, will be shown taking care of his elderly parent or volunteering at a soup kitchen !
Which just goes to show you, without the hair, make-up and lighting people,”stars” look just like the rest of us. Oops, let’s not forget the stylists too.

She actually made three appearances Thursday night. She was also in an Olive Garden commercial shown during the show.
Of course, I caught it immediately. In all honesty, though, I didn’t catch it by looking at her. I caught it from her voice, and then I confirmed it by looking at her. Becki Newton is absurdly, amazingly, ridiculously good. She (and so many other characters on this show) need way more awards love than they have been given to date.

alright, my posting didnt work before when i got all nasty about how sucky the other popwatch article was. so here i go again. seriously, that article was like a formal 5th grade essay. i say we posters ban together to get slezak on betty, or at least someone competent. and cmon, it was pretty obvious becki played that chick, you knew it in the voice before the camera even zoned in on her.
