All right, party people: I know it’s freezing out there (finally), but that doesn’t mean we can’t turn our thoughts towards summertime and the ever-growing Coachella Music Empire. Amidst all the rumors swirling around the main festival lineup (I’ve heard the Smiths, My Bloody Valentine, David Bowie, Massive Attack, and Pulp, which would certainly make a very specific kind of music fan very happy), there is now CONFIRMED FACT about the all-new, all-country Coachella afterparty, Stagecoach, happening May 5-6. From Billboard:
May 5: George Strait, Alan Jackson, Sara Evans, Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Willie Nelson, Lucinda Williams, Neko Case (pictured, and so awesome), Robert Earl Keen
May 6: Kenny Chesney, Brooks & Dunn, Sugarland, Emmylou Harris, Kris Kristofferson, Drive-By Truckers, Alejandro Escovedo, Marty Stuart, the Del McCoury Band, Garrison Keillor…
AND MORE.
Wow. I mean. Wow. Even if you’re not a country fan, you gotta appreciate the names they’ve wrangled here. This is like the Country Music Awards being held outside, and for two straight days. This is like the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo happening without the cow parts. This is like Coachella, but for country music. I’m going — are you?

The Smiths reformed? Of course it is without Morrissey, but since when?
I’m sure this is exciting news to country music fans, but it’s not a new concept. There’s been a country music festival (like the CMT awards for THREE days outside) in Minnesota every August for the past 24 years. Really. It’s called WeFest. I’d guess that every name on the above list has played WeFest at least once, some of them several times, with the exception of Garrison Keillor, perhaps.
wow, i love neko case, but why such an unflattering picture?

what about hank williams III? he’s the best
I kinda like that photo of Neko.
That does look awesome, but it has no ZZ Top which our awesome rodeo does have!! No Lucero?? Sad.
Neko is awesome, but I’m not sure it’s cool to fawn over her immediately after no-commenting on Lucinda Williams, godmother of alt-country awesomeness.
Great line up…except for Kenny Chesney. Who’s boneheaded idea was it to add that pop-music idiot?
