You know, Melody Thornton! Of the Pussycat Dolls! (That’s her, second from left.)
I confess: A couple weeks ago, I was telling one of our photo editors how the lead singer, Nicole Scherzinger, is absolutely everywhere these days — on magazine covers, in that Diddy video, etc. — but that I probably couldn’t identify any of the other Dolls if you put a gun to my head. So the photo editor found that pic of Melody, taken at last year’s VMAs.
Turns out that lots of you know your eye candy backup singers! Here are all the folks who gave the right answer, with special kudos to Nathan Grijalva, who was the first respondent to give Melody’s full name (instead of just answering, "It’s that chick from the Pussycat Dolls!”):

Actually, none of the Pussycat Dolls are back-up singers. Nicole Scherzinger is responsible for ALL vocals on the PCD album. The rest of the group contributed as much musically as Milli Vanilli. They dance, they lip sync. That’s all.
This one is real cheat, as the Pusscat Dolls are not exactly internationally renowned. With past ones, everyone had heard of them. But who the heck is going to recognize from a second rate T&A band? just saying…
How sad is it for me that before I read the answer, I was saying to myself, isn’t that the Melody girl from Pussycat Dolls? And to correct RockGolf, Melody is one of like two other girls (Carmit, the redhead I believe is the other)aside from Nicole that actually sing solo in some, albeit very small, parts of some of their songs. And to be fair, I’ve seen them several times perform live and they sound much better than one might think.
Like we’re suppose to receognize that particular PCD? Come on , Popwatch! Stop f’in with my brain.
Yeah, this one bummed me out – this person is a complete nobody.
I say all of the funny answer people should have a popwatch day named after them, and Slezak should be shunned for a few minutes, starting now.
RockGolf–Actually Melody is a back-up singer. She is the only one who gets to however. She has a few ad-libs in buttons and some in the song “sway”. If you ever hear someone that sounds like Christina Aguilera in a PCD song, its her. I think she’s the only one who ever gets to sing though.

That was an awful quiz! Who even knows any of the Pussycat Dolls besides Nicole? Plus, no one ever would have heard of her had it not been for “Pop Stars” and Eden’s Crush!
Okay I guess they should have said only teenagers would have a decent shot at who it was. Plus I think it was false advertisement saying she was known. I’m guessing the winners are the people who actually bought the PCD album and are in their fan club. Happy New Year!

Melody Thornton has powerful vocals and I believe we will hear more of her solo in their CD.
Just so you know, PCD is big worldwide. Their combined sales(album and singles) to date are over 20 Million based on their first album only. They are also in the touring circuit for almost two years now….and they are Grammy Nominated.
Sorry, but I thought the point of the game was to recognize someone famous/fairly well known from a nearly unrecognizable photo (be it heavy makeup or a really old photo. I didn’t think it was to flash a picture of someone nobody cares about and try to see how many people can guess. I mean, what’s next? A picture of my girlfriend…she’s in a band too, so why not?
Also, just because some of us don’t know an anonymous member for a second-rate girl group, we’re not “really into Pop Culture”? Puh-leaze.

For those claiming to never have heard Melody SING, she is featured on the new St. Louis teen rapper, Jibbs single, “GO TOO FAR”. Melody sings the hook from the old Janet Jackson classic, “Lets Wait Awhile”. The song should be a huge Top 40 hit in the coming weeks. And yeah PCD are internationally known, and have prolly had their hits be bigger overseas than here in the U.S. if thats even imaginable.

Except that it turns out there are way too many of you who know way too much about the Pussycat Dolls. But dear God, I sincerely hope she can sing, because she’s certainly not there as eye candy.
