Next week on CBS’s Without a Trace: Jack (Anthony LaPaglia) and his crew investigate (Chris) Daughtry’s missing video for "It’s Not Over." The American Idol season 4 finalist’s band released the single almost two months ago — it climbs to No. 38 on Billboard’s Hot 100 this week — and their full self-titled CD hit stores way back on Nov. 21. And yet, the video remains as elusive as the Yeti.
For the record, back on Dec. 15, a rep from Daughtry’s label told PopWatch the clip (mainly a performance piece), was "taking forever" to edit (we haven’t heard back on a follow-up call made today) but there’s something fishy about a label not serving up some kind of visual candy for a platinum-level debut artist, no? It can’t be a case of untelegenicness* on Mr. Daughtry’s part, so we wonder, is there foul play involved? Is the video hiding from an overzealous Idol fan? Or being held hostage in Paula Abdul’s basement? For the love of Poppy Montgomery, let’s hope Without a Trace gets to the bottom of it.
