Where is Daughtry's 'It's Not Over' video?

Next week on CBS’s Without a Trace: Jack (Anthony LaPaglia) and his crew investigate (Chris) Daughtry’s missing video for "It’s Not Over." The American Idol season 4 finalist’s band released the single almost two months ago — it climbs to No. 38 on Billboard’s Hot 100 this week — and their full self-titled CD hit stores way back on Nov. 21. And yet, the video remains as elusive as the Yeti.

For the record, back on Dec. 15, a rep from Daughtry’s label told PopWatch the clip (mainly a performance piece), was "taking forever" to edit (we haven’t heard back on a follow-up call made today) but there’s something fishy about a label not serving up some kind of visual candy for a platinum-level debut artist, no? It can’t be a case of untelegenicness* on Mr. Daughtry’s part, so we wonder, is there foul play involved? Is the video hiding from an overzealous Idol fan? Or being held hostage in Paula Abdul’s basement? For the love of Poppy Montgomery, let’s hope Without a Trace gets to the bottom of it.

* Not a real word, but should be.

I understand what they mean by “taking forever” to edit. I’m guessing that they need to do more filming on the video.

Slezak, you finally write something about Chris and THIS is IT? One sentence about how “It’s Not Over” is #38 on the Hot 100? Nothing about how DAUGHTRY is still in the top ten of Billboard’s 200, or how it was the top rock album for at least two weeks? C’mon, Dude, write about the POSITIVES, wouldja? We all wanna see a DAUGHTRY video, but in the meantime let’s hear some cheer from you about how awesome Chris and his band are doing, ok?

Did the WAT team ever find out what happened to Jack’s likability factor? I gave up on the show after a God-awful episode involving something about the mafia and a bowling alley.

    More possible theories:
-Extensive reshoots required after video director decided that a toupee was not a good look for Chris after all.
-Now that YouTube is the primary place to view music videos, the label decided to save money and use the 15,478 montages of tv-characters-who-are-in-love-but-never-seem-to-get-it-on scored to the song that are already there.
-Suddenly occurred to them that, in order for this to be a “band” there should be more than one member. A production assistant is scouring LA for drummers as we speak.
-Editing was outsourced to India; video now includes two big dance numbers and a tragic love story.

Chris’ video search is one I will take part in only after I finish my search for where Elliot Yamin’s record contract is. Anyone??

Chris is proof that real talent does not always have to be backed up by a video. His album is selling just fine without a video, but it certainly would be great to see one.

  • Shel

He’s doing just fine without a video. In fact he’s kicking ass over Taylor Hicks, who has nowhere near the talent of Chris Daughtry. Once the video comes out though, watch out. And by the way, Elliott’s is getting a record deal cuz his mommy told the media it was happening and it must be true.

Hey Daughtry Doll, here’s a suggestion, let’s remove our head from Chris’s ass…mmkay?

Daughtry’s cd has been in the Billboard Hot 200 albums’ top ten for five weeks, it has already sold more than a amillion copies, and its fifth week outsold Taylor Hicks’ SECOND week, in which btw, the AI winner actually decreased his sales 33 %, and fell from 2 to # 15.
That is very rare during the Holiday Shopping-boosted weeke of Christmas, most albums in the top ten get sales increases but Hicks actually fell, which doesn’t bode well.

Chris Fans, we don’t have to bash the other guys. Chris wouldn’t do it and neither should we. His talent speaks for itself as evidenced by the awesome success of his album.
Oh, and Matt? Do you kiss your Mom with that mouth?

  • JC

Wow. I guess you told him, Daughtry Doll. But on to more important things: Chris Daughtry and his band are amazing and the song “It’s Not Over” is amazing, does it really matter whether there’s a video or not?

  • Daughtry Doll

Well, the video is out……..what do y’all think? IMHO the best thing about it is the AUDIO(and the shots of Chris and the guys, of course!).
