Whoops, you’re right. I was thinking The Shining when it was from Bridge on the River Kwai first.
I am so smart. I am so smart. S-M-R-T. I mean S-M-A-R-T.
i think there are 2 that weren’t nominate for best pic or screenplay.
but, technically….one of them is a misquote.
I would like to share a korean movie , the king and the clown , which has taken part in this year nomination as well although the chance to be nominated is ….
anyway, enjoy !
BamaEd, you are killing me!
BamaEd, it’s true….trust me. It hits newsstands on Fri. I wish it weren’t true, either, but the cast are “Entertainers of the Year.”
Anth
I cannot believe they left out ANYTHING from Gone with the Wind! or All About Eve! or CASABLANCA! That was voted best screenplay ever by the Screenwrite’s guild!!
ktal, I found two as well, and you’re right, one does seem to be a misquote, or at least paraphrased without identifying it as such. At least I think you and I are talking about the same thing, it would be helpful if we were saying which ones we were talking about…;) I guess we don’t want to spoil it for others.
Yup, you guys are right, there’s definitely quotes on the there from TWO movies that were not nominated for Best Picture of Best Screenplay. Both movies did receive acting nominations though…
I wish I knew how to quit you…
(I had to, I just had to).
Can someone please just tell what the hell the film is? I am a teenager who just started to become a film freak. So I don’t have the advantage of age like the rest of you. So, can you people please just tell me?
Ro-Ro…see Kit’s post, and there’s a PRETTY clear indication about at least ONE of the movies (I don’t know what the other one is because I quit looking after finding one)
And, sorry but I just can’t get over this “Grey’s Anatomy” thing…having already thrown up in my mouth a lot, I thought about how much EW itself cries and complains how shows like “Battlestar Galactica” and “The Wire” and “Arrested Development” (when it was still alive) never get the love they deserve…then they go and make the cast of the insanely overrated, and glorified soap opera that is “Grey’s Anatomy” the “Entertainer of the Year”…ugh, I’m getting sick again.
Star Wars and E.T. both seem to be correct answers to the trivia question.
“Forget it Jake, it’s Chinatown” is a better choice from Chinatown than the line that appears on the poster, IMO.
“Dodge This” and “You are the one” from the Matrix. Those were HUUUGE catchphrases when the film came out.
E.T. and Star Wars both received nominations for Best Picture AND Best Screenplay, so they are not the answers.
One of the answers has been pretty well covered in this thread. The other correct answer — the one with the misquote, for lack of a better word — isn’t that hard to spot in here either.
BTW, there is a Casablanca quote AND a GWTW quote on the poster.
“I wish I knew how to quit you” is already on the poster, junior.
