Are you a Liz Lemon?

Categories: Television

15346__fey_lLast week, I was having lunch at a little Asian fusion joint in Manhattan, and my roommate turned to me and said, “What’s up, Liz Lemon?” as he pulled a piece of tofu out of my hair. This got me to thinking, Am  I a real-life version of Liz Lemon, Tina Fey’s messy, harried producer character on 30 Rock? As a service to you, dear readers, I’ve compiled a primer on the 10 ways to tell:

1. Duh! You walk around with food in your hair. Usually lettuce.

2. Your shoes are bi-curious.

3. Because of that, your boss gives you a wad of cash to buy clothes at a women’s store.

4. Your mentor’s prior claim to fame was developing the trivection oven.

5. You are what you eat. Hoagies.

6. You’ve almost died choking on a frozen meatloaf dinner.

7. Your employees reply to your queries with “Yes, sir.”

8. You’re dating a king. Not of a country, per se, but of beepers.

9. That same boyfriend likes Nickelback.

10. You realize the person your boss sets you up with is actually a woman, and you’re straight. But she’s so hot, you’d consider dating her anyway.

Got more to add to this list? Go for it.

I am the king of Scooter Stereos. Would that make my fiancé Liz Lemon?

Your less talented friends star in unpronouncable movie projects! (Rural Juror)

    HAHAHAHAHA i heart number ten

  • Nose

Ugh..if he likes Nickelback, there’s no excuse. Dump him now. No good can come from that.

  • Jane

I would kill to be Liz Lemon. Her boss isn’t nearly as creepy as mine.

I am the only guy who thinks Tina Fey is hot? I’ve had this thought ever since MEAN GIRLS. All throughout the movie I was like, “Lindsay who…?”

  • Scooter Stereo King

    Another king emerges.
I too have been crushing on Tina Fey since her news days on SNL. She looked hot in square rimmed glasses, and made me smile when she called John Ashcroft a byotch.

Seriously, this show just keeps getting funnier every week! I never thought I’d say this, but Tracy Morgan is hilarious and Alec Baldwin is genius. Baldwin deserves an Emmy just on his delivery alone…and Tina Fey always rules.

My favorite person of 2006 or at least the last three months of it, is Alec Baldwin. He was great in The Departed. He was the cause of the best SNL in years. He deserves an Emmy for 30 Rock. Tina Fey and Tracy Morgan are two dimentional on the show and Tina needs to show the range she did on Weekend Update. Baldwin makes the show.

Is it too late to say 30 Rock really should have been cancelled? Fey is talented, and Baldwin is outstanding, but the show is dreadful. Alec deserves better, and Tina should be involved in something better than this dreck.

I go this one from the show: You are a Liz Lemon if you’ve had 3 sex partners in the last 10 years.

I want to be Liz Lemon (or the real Tina). And I have short brown hair and glasses. Is that close enough?
My shoes definitely aren’t bi-curious, though.

#11. You give in to the network “suits” and throw your friend under the bus.

Tina Fey’s on this week’s NPR radio show, Wait, Wait… Don’t Tell Me!

I finally watched 30 rock 2 weeks ago for the 1st & LOVED it. I laughed out loud the whole episode & Alec is unbelievable. That said, I find myself both amused and slightly horrified at how much I identified with Liz. Being a mid 30 something, cute but single woman in NYC that works way too much, likes food far worse then hoagies & often wears “comfortable shoes”, I totally got the beeper king thing. She’s just in “f*** it” mode because who really has time/energy to invest in weeding out the good guys after years of going round & round. You just get to the point where you’re over dating & wind up with next schlub who comes your way. And though I haven’t gone that route, I know many who have.

I love 30 Rock. Tina Fey is genious and Tracy Morgan is hilarious. I am still angry they got rid of the Tracy Morgan show. I love the way his character says Liz Lemon’s name! The quirkyness and quick wit of this show may go over your head, but it is always funny!!! I hope it does not get cancelled.

This show gave my shoes the courage to come out.
Or rather…one outed the other when it tried to hit on him, and he ran in a closet to hide. Tom Cruise emotionally scarred him.

  • Julia

You’re a Liz Lemon if you sing “Annie” showtunes by yourself while you’re working. I told my husband this afternoon while waiting for “Wait, Wait, Dont Tell Me” that Tina Fey is my hero, my girl crush. And I’m not kidding.

Tina Fey isn’t the best looking woman in the world but with her personality and quirkiness she’s a perfect 10! I love a girl who is a smart ass and funny!
