If you don't like the show - STOP WATCHING IT, stop caring about it! People stopped watching "The Nine" and they cancelled it (I liked it, but it was getting boring) and people never seemed to get on board with "Smith" - one of the best shows I've seen in YEARS! Studio 60 is fun, I like it. I think it's hilarious that you guys spend so much time ranting about it and getting upset that it's still on the air. There is some much more crap to be concerned about guys... so much more.

I like Studio 60 and I thought it was a good show this week. Decent apology but kind of left-handed when you put up a really unflattering picture of the person you're apologizing to, isn't it? I mean, unless Aaron Sorkin has gotten much older, fatter and had his eyes sewn shut, it's not a nice picture.

Good post, Fatima. You have shown, unlike some others, that can you intelligently respond without personal insults.
That being said, Cancel Studio 60!

Hey Whitney, you should apologize for your most recent thread about Madonna and her interview on the Oprah Winfrey show. You know the live blogging one. Yes, people have the right to voice there opinion. I respect that. However, Madonna should not be criticized by those who are not helping out Malawi or any other form of charity.

whitney
excellent apology. a lot of people could learn from that.
now here's a potentially life changing suggestion: i used to be pretty radical in my younger days. i found problems with society anywhere and everywhere. every time i heard of behavior that was possibly inappropriate - i always assumed it was the result of corruption, greed, racism, sexism etc.
that was the primary filter through which i viewed the world. and the truth was i loved being a (self) righteous crusader.
but here's where i realized that i was way off track:
instead of being relieved - i was actually kinda disappointed when the truth turned out to be far more benign than i had first thought.
i try really hard not to jump to worst-case assumptions anymore.
i force myself to imagine other scenarios that would explain the behavior in less insidious ways. it's not as much fun, it's certainly a lot more work, i don't get to be as self righteous as i used to be, and - it really pisses off both my liberal friends and my conservative friends.
but it is the only intellectually honest way to view the world.
it also means that when you do cry "racist" or "corrupt" - the words have real meaning. they haven't been completely overused.
anyway . . . something to think about.
ps: one of the people who consistently forces me to think outside my comfort zone is john stossel. i certainly don't always agree with everything he says but he always forces me to view situations from completely different perspectives. that's a good thing.

Anyone else find it funky that Aaron Sorkin has enough time in the day to check out EW.com and really read into what the writers say? No offense to Whitney Pastorek (I love ya, Whit), but why would a super rich tv writer who's shows are watched by millions care so much about what one critic who writes for one pop culture magazine has to say? Is this a credit to EW's impact? Or are more people than expected "googling" their own name?
Studio 60 is not my cup of tea (but 30Rock is my new fall fave). Since both S60 and 30Rock have gotten signed on for the rest of the season, there seems to be enough space for the two shows (and their passionate fan base) after all.

The Nine was an awesome show, but Fatima's right. This is ABC's problem, not NBC.
And NBC _never_ cancels or cuts short critically acclaimed cult dramas.
Bring back "Kidnapped"!

Nicely said Ang Knee. I never said Studio 60 was flawless, but I think its inventive, exciting and fun to watch.
and to those complaining about studio 60's pick up and the nine's cancellation....its a moot point as they don't share a network.
I think NBC has been daring and admirable this year giving quality struggling shows a fighting chance. If you have a problem with the Nine, don't take it out on NBC..go complain to trigger happy ABC.
And to all the detractors of Studio 60...it's not being praised as genius anymore, rather EW is bashing it ad naseum. If you're point is to draw attention to what you think is an overhyped show then you're a little late. It's a little like kicking a dead horse. Move on. A small select few like it. let them enjoy while they can. and ew needs to quit talking about it, as we obviously aren't moving anywhere intelligent here.

Studio 60 isn't "smart TV" because it wants to teach us stuff, like about Jesus, Mary and the FCC. It doesn't. If it happens to teach some people some stuff, that's by the way. It's "smart TV" because it's about people who are interested in and excited by the world. It's about people who have thoughts and ideas and principles and who talk about them and fight about them and make things out of them. Now, the show doesn't execute every one of its tricks as gracefully as we might wish. What other show even attempts them?
