'The Bachelor: Rome': Lorenzo & Jen speak!

154116__bachelor_lYep, they’re still together. Well, at least that was the not terribly effusive word from Lorenzo Borghese and Jennifer Wilson during a teleconference this afternoon discussing their experiences on the just-concluded season of The Bachelor: Rome, and what’s become of them since filming wrapped on September 22.

"We’re still very happy and we’re definitely together," said Jen, "but we’re just kind of trying to figure things out, and really grow into a relationship now." Of course, they’ll have to nurture that growth from afar; eighth-grade teacher Jen said she’ll stay in the Miami area at least long enough to finish out the school year, while Lorenzo has no plans to move from his New York City base. Yet if Jen has any fears that Lorenzo’s female fans will pursue him during the couple’s long-distance courtship, she’s keeping them to herself. "I have total confidence in him that everything will be fine," she said. "And if not, I’m sure it’ll get written about so I’ll find out that way." Alrighty, then!

Anyhow, since I was perplexed by last night’s climactic scene, inwhich Lorenzo showed Jen a diamond engagement ring, explained he wasn’tready to give it to her yet, then proceeded to place it on her finger,I had to ask if he was pushed by ABC’s producers to provide them withthe kind of fairytale footage that hints at a walk down the aisle.Lorenzo’s answer? Well, kinda cryptic. "I didn’t have a necklace on me,or a string, but I mean, it is a ring, so you should put it on afinger. And so I put it on Jen’s finger," he explained. "And obviouslybefore I did, I wanted her to understand why I was putting it on herfinger, and what it meant, but she’s got it on her finger right now,and I think that’s what you do with a ring." (For the record, Jenadded, it’s on her left hand.)

Still, even if Lorenzo and Jen beat the Bachelor odds andbecome husband and wife — "If that’s what happens, I will definitelythen be Princess Jennifer," the bachelorette in question said — don’texpect a redo of Trista and Ryan’s televised nuptials. "Are we lookingfor a reality TV wedding at this point? Probably not," said Jen. Notthat she and Lorenzo would rule out other on-camera adventures. "Ifit’s a fun opportunity and it makes sense, I don’t see why either of uswould turn it down," said Lorenzo. Now who says there’s no happyendings?

Why doesn’t LOGO (Bravo?) do an all-Gay or all-Lesbian version of this show? It would be totally bitchin’ fun!

  • rachel

I dont think Jennifer should worry, Im pretty sure Lorenzo has no female fans

  • jcdc13

They already did a boy meets boy version on Bravo about 3-4 years ago.

  • deb

Best wishes to Jen and Lorenzo!

  • Janine

“I dont think Jennifer should worry, Im pretty sure Lorenzo has no female fans”
Oh my goodness! Rachel, you made me laugh with your comment!

  • Aneya

Was anyone else completely crushed when he didn’t pick Sadie? She’s SO much cuter, smarter, spunkier and her dad was adorable and soft spoken, while Jen’s was obnoxious and loud….oh, bad choice, Lorenzo, bad choice.

  • Nancy

What disturbed me the most was how the ladies were almost always saying they’re in love with a prince. Rarely did they say “I’m in love with Lorenzo”. All they could talk about was being in love with a prince and being a princess. These women are still five years old in my book. That being said, I think he chose the right one. Loved Sadie’s parents and totally disliked Jen’s father. But Sadie has “stalker” written all over her. If he had chosen her, she would never let him even look at another woman, let alone talk to one. She seems to be very possessive and not willing to share “her prince”. Scary woman!

  • Nancy

It would have been so much fun to have that crazy girl (can’t remember her name but the one who thinks she’s already a princess) meet Lorenzo’s parents…especially his mom. I would love to have seen Lorenzo’s mom read her palm.

  • Nicole

I think Lorenzo made a mistake, Sadie is such a nice girl and such a catch! Not to say theres anything wrong with Jen, she seems nice and all, but Sadie is a better match for him and would be a better wife i think!

  • Deana

I agree with Nancy. Sadie seems possessive. I can’t believe she gave him a diary entitled, “What I Deserve”. She has an exaggerated sense of self.

I don’t agree with everyone’s anti-Sadie words. I find her very lively and good-natured and I think the nice ying to L’s yang. We shouldn’t assume she is a stalkerish, jealous, obsessive type, because we don’t know. We hardly see any facets of these girls on this show. Besides, after reading that recap of L and Jen above, it seems they are definitely doomed!
I think that the next Bachelorette should be Agnese, Sadie, or ERICA!!
I am not watching the southern-baptist-totally-courting-middle-America next Bachelor guy- he seems totally lame.

  • j-man

As a guy, I knew he would pick jenn. For guys, our priorities are hotness and personality. Both seemed equal. But for long-term/marriage, we want to avoid a “worst-case scenario” and choose the safer choice. It would have been difficult for Lorenzo to “wait for marriage” with Sadie and I don’t think he’s sure if he will marry either one in the long-term. I also think Sadie was better prepared for being “dumped”.

I think this whole Batchelor show is feigned. It is so far removed from “reality.” Please don’t call it reality tv. How can a man ever really know what he is getting when he is coerced to choose within a given short time from among 25-27 young women who are surely putting their “perceived” good foot forward, never their other foot. It takes time, serious time, without the cameras, to really get to know a person. How could anyone, man or woman ever make a true free will decision for a lifetime companion in those circumstances. Relationships from across the country rarely pan out. Poor Lorenzo! At least he had the real ability to express his confusion through tears. Who wouldn’t be!

  • Dee

I wasn’t surprise when Lorenzo picked the beautiful school teacher. She seems nice and pleasant. Sadie comes across as shrewd and manipulative. I couldn’t see him marrying any of the 27 ladies. I thought what he would probably do is date one of them for several months. Why would a 34 year old red-blooded heterosexual male pick a virgin to date?

  • ceejay

There was ZERO chemistry between these two; besides who would want to marry this girl with such a lousy father? He lacks class, manners and civility and in my experience, you DO marry the family as well….. These two will not get the chance, because they will soon be over…. As for the ring, it was simply a keepsake for having participated and that is how Lorenzo’s mother saw it. It was a very smart move on her part not to squander the family jewels on a non-existing engagement.

  • Tanya

Luke: Bravo had a show called ‘Boy Meets Boy’ a few years ago.

  • Dawn

So what if they’re over. Jen gets to keep the $80,000 ring and Sadie has to live with the humiliation of being told on National Television, “there is another lady involved and I would rather be with her.” Ouch!

  • Janice

For 23 years old, I thought Erica was strong, confident, well-spoken and very sure of who she was. She should have rebuked Lorenzo for accusing her of “being all about the money”. All the others, under the guise of rich Lorenzo being “A Prince” were/are really “about the money”. This show is so sleazy and trashy but I just can’t stop watching! LOL. I’d love to see Erica take on a bevy of guys!

  • GeeMoney

I give it a month before they break up.

  • Kayla

Nothing in this show is “real” – the situation is forced, the girls are gold diggers and attention seekers and, anyway, how can you act natural when there are cameras filming your every move? That’s why 99.9% of these fake relationships don’t last. I am curious to know what subject Jen teaches. She seemed awfully immature to teach a bunch of 8th graders. As for Sadie, I admire her values but that so-called prince wasn’t picking her. He’s already sampled the merchandise and probably decided he had to seriously commit if he chose someone like Sadie.

  • Adele

Given the cold hearted way in which Lorenzo dumped Sadie, Jen should run for her life. If it’s already over between them, then she should thank her lucky stars because she dodged a bullet. I started seeing Lorenzo in an unflattering light after he cold heartedly stripped Jami of the jewels and slammed the limo in Lisa’s face after saying goodbye. For a “Prince”, his manners leave a lot to be desired. Jen and Sadie can do so much better.

  • Madeleine

Read a month ago that Lorenzo was partying/surrounded by girls in a club recently. Like this would last.
Jen’s sing-song-y voice (awful!) and her irritating laugh would drive me around the bend. Can’t believe she inflicts that on her students everyday…those poor kids.

  • Sean

Great idea Luke. You should write it up and sell that idea to Bravo or even Fox.

  • Vern

So, tweet widdle Sadie got her heart broken by the big bad Prince. Welcome to the real world. Princess Sadie has been living in a fantasy world for far too long.

  • jan

I think Jennifer was beautiful and nice, and I wish them the best, but of course think it’s a long shot. And, I agree, I would love to see Erika in another show of some sort – she was a hoot to watch!!!

  • erica

I think Sadie was the much better choice. She was so real and didn’t hold back her morals or values. I do not think she should be criticized about revealing these things on national television. As far as her giving Lorenzo the book on what she deserves, better to let him know what she wants now rather than later. Jennifer seems way too immature for him. He chose her because she was more willing to let him have his way with her.

  • Janice

What does everybody think about Erica’s claim that Lorenzo has The Prince Charming Syndrome & was looking for a poor girl that he could raise to his level? I see him as very fearful about being taken advantage of by the golddiggers (to quote Kayla) which may explain why he hasn’t married so far.

  • Joe

Lorenzo is a hero! He played it perfectly! He got to advertise himself for future dating, and at the same time drag two perfectly nice girls through the mud!! :-) …..let me correct that….I meant to say one woman and one girl. LOL It was priceless the way he dumped Sadie…..”I’d rather be with someone else.” Ohhhh, that was soooo great. I even taped it so I could enjoy the dumping part again. Good luck Lorenzo and Jenn…..please stay in the tabloids so we can continue to enjoy the drama.

  • Joseph

Jen does not strike me as immature. Like a lot of people, she giggles when nervous. There isn’t a man alive who could live up to Sadie’s fantasies of a husband. She wants the ideal man and he just does not exist. She has a lot of growing up to do. Something tells me she will be single for a very long time. Jen on the other hand needs to dump Lorenzo asap, hock the ring and move to New York. Somewhere in that great, big city her Investment Banker is waiting.

  • Mo

I thought he should have picked Sadie! She should definitely be the next bachelorette! I think alot of viewers liked her and would be very interested in seeing her meet her real match. It’s also a lot more fun when you already know the person. I think you get more into it. For example Trista…
