Its not commericialism—its fandom!
Has anyone ever bought one of those leglamps? I saw them for sale on Ebay (or maybe it was google) and was really tempted, but could never justify such an expensive purchase for purely camp value.
Perhaps getting the chance to watch the family controversy about how the original broke some 24 times will have to suffice.
One last question. Did anyone see the sequel, which featured Charles Grodin as the dad? The jury is still out on that one for me…
I think the title of the movie with Charles Grodin was “My Summer Story” and I enjoyed it, but my favorite is the summer vacation sequel, “Ollie Hopnoodles Haven of Bliss” with Darrin McGavin as the father and Jerry O’Connell as a teenage Ralph. Dorthy Lyman played the mother and listening to her call for her dog, “FUZZHEAD” is hilarious.
