'The Bachelor: Rome': Sadie or Jennifer?

All day long, I’ve been obsessed with two things, and two things only. And now that I’ve decided to make pulled pork sandwiches with red cabbage for dinner — thank heavens for Everyday Food! — that leaves me with only one question to ponder: Who’s going to win on tonight’s season finale of The Bachelor: Rome? (Note ABC’s website is still promoting last week’s "Women Tell All" episode.) And by "win," of course, I mean "agree to continue a hopelessly superficial courtship with ‘Prince’ Lorenzo Borghese for another 6-12 months before announcing an amicable split through an ABC spokesperson."

In one corner, there’s vaguely appealing (and virginal) Sadie. In the other, there’s kind (but bland) Jennifer. WHICH WOMAN WILL FULFILL HER REAL-LIFE FAIRYTALE BY BECOMING LORENZO’S PRINCESS? WHICH WOMAN’S DREAMS WILL BE CRUSHED ON NATIONAL TELEVISION? Oops, sorry, I just channeled Chris Harrison.

Anyway, if Sadie doesn’t win, I predict I’m going to cough up a littlebit of that pulled pork in a fit of confusion and rage. (I admit it: Idon’t want to care, and yet, after taking the "journey" with Lorenzo, I"feel" a lot of "emotions.") Sadie and Lorenzo have exhibited actualromantic chemistry, whereas Jennifer and Lorenzo have the kind ofchemistry that’s on par with that of Kelly Ripa and Clay Aiken’s hand.Am I right? Or am I going to be in for a surprise when Jennifer ends upwith the tiara? (Also: Stay tuned to EW.com tomorrow afternoon for my soul-crushing life-affirming sexy heartwarming interview with Lorenzo and his soon-to-be arch-enemy ex bride.)

    Pulled pork and red cabbage?
    Ew.
Make sure to have that BeanO handy.

  • aramis

OH, and just make sure you DON’T eat the red cabbage before the interview….
    LOL, I’m only saying….

  • Kitty

when do I show up for the pulled pork and cabbage?
who cares a hoot about The Bachelor?

  • bb

    Princess Sadie.

  • mikki

I absolutely cannot believe Lorenzo picked Jennifer. The more she speaks the more I can’t stand listening to her. Jen, please, take a breath when you speak. She talks only in run-on sentences. She goes on and on, but she isn’t actually saying anything. I knew I preferred Sadie, but by the end of the two hours tonight, I knew I couldn’t stand to hear Jennifer speak any longer. I don’t know what Lorenzo is thinking. And her dad frightens the daylights out of me. Even Sadie’s vocation (in PR in the fashion industry) would have fit in better with Lorenzo’s family’s cosmetics company. Oh well, I’m sure he will come to regret his decision.

Jen pulled away every time he zoomed in for a kiss. i think the producers purposely didn’t show any real kissing between the two – I saw infatuation with both but no real chemistry. I predict it will last a week after this show!

  • Angela

Gosh I am just totally bummed. I thought for sure it would be Sadie. She had charm charisma and depth, and Lorenzo seemed to be falling for her, only to have him pick Jen?!?!? I feel so mislead and betrayed! Jen was of course beautiful and sweet, but she was really focused on ‘Yippee I’m going to be a princess’ more then ‘I really want to be with this guy’. But I guess if having her dad as a father-in-law doesn’t totally turn you off then nothing will. Sadie should be the next Bachelorette.

  • Izzy

I can’t believe it! Sadie is such a gracious lady and Jen is such a twit. I agree with Mikki – the more you hear Jen’s voice, the more grating it becomes – as I’m sure Lorenzo will soon learn. Honestly, though, I think Sadie is too good for him so she’s really better off. Beneath that suave, handsome exterior – nothing!

  • angelfromjerzee

Sadie had the same lisp as Lorenzo’s Mom and she looked like a younger version of his MOM… although Jenn would not have been my choice he probably realized Sadie was alot like his Mom and couldn’t possibly kiss his own Mom passionately .. Unless of course they were from southern Italy … LOL

  • mary

Lorenzo picked the wrong girl…what a let down. Why watch this stuff any more when it’s so obvious to the world who should win and then she loses. What’s with that??
Sadie…you go girl. You are the right one for another handsome prince who really appreciates the queen that you are. Perhaps you should be the next Bachelorette and be like Trista who picked a neat guy. That show ending was really, really romantic.
This latest show was a total bomb and very disappointing.

  • Angelene

Come on, its obvious that Sadie is the real gem! Why should darling Sadie have to be picked by some bachelor? I think Sadie should be able to choose the guy that is right for her. Sadie is total class and an amazing example to all. Her classiness is a rare thing in this day. To have her on television is a relief to this unraveling world. I think that there should be more bachelorette shows. Women should not have the mindset of “being picked.” I want to see Sadie choose the man of HER dreams!!

  • lynne

    I like Jen!

  • Corran

Biggest letdown in Bachelor history. What was Lorenzo thinking? This girl (Jenn) was grating, and did NOT have a personality in comparison to the sweet and sultry Sadie. I like Sadie :)

  • Jennifer

OMG what a total BUST! Jenn over Sadie? Pardon me, but what the H*LL? He didn’t even seem that intrested in Jenn but all of a sudden he wants to be with her?! He and Sadie seemed to be real and so connected and you could tell Sadie cared about him and not being a princess. She was totally in love with him! All I saw with Jenn was some little crush and “OO I want to be a pretty princess”, and what about her Dad at brunch, how RUDE! I feel cheated, mislead and hurt! And what about that line?!! “In you’re wish list you said you wanted a guy who can’t fathom being with another woman. The truth is that there is another woman here, and at this point I would rather be with her.” Jesus that’s got to be the worst line in Bachelor history. Who freakn’ tells a girl he doesn’t want to be with her like that? Especially someone like Sadie?!!! Don’t worry Sadie, most of us rooted for you! You are always a princess in my heart!

  • James Katt

    I LIKED Jen a lot.
She was easy going, easy to be with.
She and Lorenzo seemed to be more of a match than Sadie and Lorenzo.

  • Ms Daisy

I think Sadie is the real winner here. She didn’t get stuck with this pseudo-prince. I suspect that Lorenzo and Jen have already split up…it’s usually a bad sign when ABC doesn’t follow up with an “After the Last Rose” special the next week.

  • Gus

I don’t care at all about the tvshow, but YAY to the shout out for Everyday Food! BEST.MAGAZINE.EVER. I haven’t tried the pulled pork sandwiches yet. Have you tried the Tomato and Sausage Risotto from last month? MMM MMM To Die For! I have given this magazine as a gift to eight friends now. Long Live Martha and her Minions!

  • toonces

I cannot believe it wasn’t Sadie! I agree with you all below that she was class personified. I mean, she did have that cutesy-tootsie-ness but I still loved her. Jen is a sweet girl but just too like, bland. I agree.
I suspect they have broken up as well.
Just like last time around I loved the brunette exotic girl that Travis did NOT pick- even though he really loved her, I think Lorenzo did not pick the girl he truly loved here. HIS loss.
Big deal, he does like things for dogs- for a living. What a prince! — not!
Sadie- next bachelorette- yes ABC please!!!
Plus who’s going to watch that lame southern friend Navy medic? NOT ME!!! ratings will go down again

  • Deana

Congrats to Jen. She seems nice. The editing on this show is always sympathetic to the loser. While Lorenzo seemed to respect and admire Sadie, I never got the feeling he was really into her. I thought it telling when he asked Jen and Lisa about moving to New York, but didn’t broach the subject with Sadie. Lorenzo’s, “There is another woman involved and I would rather be with her” line to Sadie was rude and heartless.

  • Kayla

Both girls were beautiful and nice; the problem is that clearly none of them had any chemistry with Lorenzo; hence his indecision up to the last minute. About the parents; Sadie’s look down to earth and a bit classy, unlike Jen’s father, who came to a palace dressed as if he was going to the convenience store next door….. Didn’t anyone tell this guy anything about etiquette? Remember: When in Rome…… As for Lorenzo and both girls, I am sure all of them will eventually find their soulmates.

  • LC

All of these people needed grammar and word usage education before they went on national TV. Sadie, while slightly more sophisticated than the other one (the Chrissalee clone) messed up when she said she was trying to be “graces” when I believe she meant gracious.

  • Deana

LC, Sadie said, “I am trying to be gracious”, not graces.

  • let down

What a major let down! Perhaps the show edited the parts where Jen wasn’t being annoying and self-absorbed and Sadie was being anything less than charming and devoted to Prince F… face! When the show first began, I was so smitten with Lorenzo. Now, I think he deserves who he chose!
P.S. I agree! Sadie for the next batchelorette!

  • Deana

Sadie seems way more self absorbed than Jen. I have a feeling Jen was prompted to talk about being a Princess. Sadie was the one who told Lorenzo, “They are twenty-four extra girls here, so send them home.” “I know you want to kiss me.” “You don’t have to visit the other girls’ families.” “Move over Jen and Lisa, he is mine.” Plus, the fact that every other sentence out of her mouth was, “I am saving myself for marriage.”

  • LC

Deana: I know that she meant gracious – but it did come out “graces”. Perhaps it was because she was so distraught.
Maybe that wasn’t as grating as Jen’s pronounciation of important.
She had soooo many words to say – she just couldn’t say anyting !

  • Teri D’Amico

Does anyone know if Lorenzo and Jennifer are still together?

  • stephanie

I think someone with the eloquence and morality of Sadie is simply too good for this show. Consequently, I truly think Lorenzo thought he wasn’t good enough for her- as evidenced by his uncomfortable/incredulous looks when she would tell him how much she respected him and how virtuous she thought he was. I think Lorenzo is a pretty regular guy who thought Sadie deserved a man of her caliber, and that man was not him. Even though Jen is less sophisticated and less articulate, I think she appeals to him because he can relax around her and not have to be such a pillar of virtue. Less pressure. His final words to Sadie were particularly and unnecessarily cruel, though. It’s so terrible to watch a special soul like Sadie be treated so roughly.

  • CATHY

ALL I REMEMBER IS THAT EVERY OTHER WORD JEN SAYS IS:
“AMAZING”. HER VOCABULARY WAS QUITE LIMITED.

  • Christina

    Test

  • Christina

I was so upset about the outcome of this show, I agreed that there was true romance between PL and Sadie, shocked that he picked Jen, but now I see why. After reading her expectations in her letter, I believe he KNEW he couldn’t match her dream guy. Sadie was better than him! Jen’s life could blend in with his… BORING. I REALLY want Sadie to be the next Bachelorette…. and I hope that she know’s that she’s the one who won, and see big picture… That some princes are just….FROGS in disguise!!! Christina
