I wish Michael Jackson hadn’t bothered to show up at all for last night’s World Music Awards in London. Once there, he wandered around the stage, intermittently hugging preteens and rasping a few lines of the "We Are the World" chorus before flinging his jacket into the crowd. If you bother to watch the video, note his attention to detail on the timing of the fling. He really needed it to release on the first "world" of a new verse — primarily so that he could avoid more singing. And towards the end, he pitifully gave up mid-line. He sang, "It’s true, we…" and then cut off, possibly because he’d just realized he has ceased to make a brighter day for you and me.
Did it HAVE to be a children’s chorus?! [Angrysmiley.]
Fans who’d dropped £100-200 on tix (seeing as this was the lame-o WMAs, a good question for them would be "why?") came to the show expecting Jacko to pair up with R&B star Chris Brown for a live version of "Thriller." That didn’t happen, and Brown performed alone. Whatever you think of Brown, that took guts. (Or, more likely, an irate director screaming in his face that he better go out there anyway.) And whatever you think of Jacko, consider this, and weep for those brighter days.

Annie Annie Annie, I had promised myself I wouldn’t get into any Jackson related topic but what the hell your article is too good not to participate lol!!!!!! I have seen the clip and boy! Jackson’s voice disappeared along his money, his voice on the few words he “sang” was cracked and soo low, besides did he really needed all those “kids!” on stage, has he not learn a thing yet?…I really wonder how somebody like him has still fans…then again O.J. is now with that stupid book now too and I bet it will sell too…Oh well GREAT ARTICLE!!!!!!!!
Many things on stage at once to remind us of how hard MJ has fallen. The kids to remind us of the scandals, the song to remind us of the era when he sold records, and a drugged out, frail looking Michael reminding us that there stands a man many of us once admired.
Michael’s faking his vocals in that youtube clip. That is one emperor who hardly ever bothered to get dressed.
Next move…peddling a book and Fox tv Special…..”I didn’t rape those boys, but if I did, here’s how it happened”……….
god, how sad to watch those clips and realize that somewhere under that crumbling face and absolutely destroyed mind, a huge fire of a talent once burned…thanks for the reminder, not that it doesn’t make it even sadder…
The cannot sing anymore. In order to sing, you have to be able to breathe. In order to breathe, you have to have a nose.
The way he was surrounded (engulfed?) by the kids at the end reminded me of SUDDENLY, LAST SUMMER. Could MJ be the new Sebastian Venable???
Mike needs to be locked. THe weirdness he is inflicting upon the world cannot be good for the environment.
Michael Jackson deservedly earned the name – WACKO JACKO! Those Brits always have balls!
Anyway, I think MJ needs to get together with Janet and tell his baby sis that she is headed his way, career wise. Janet hasn’t had a single hit since All For You. M Jackson hasn’t had a hit since his Lisa Marie Presely days. Those two are crumbling fast, face and all!
Doesn’t this man have 1 publicist who can talk him into NOT appearing with kids. It just adds an extra creepy vibe to the entire mess
I totally agree with Elizabeth. MJ cannot sing anymore, because of too many nose jobs. It is sad that he felt he had to completely change himself. There is nothing left of his old self. His voice was really gone when he did the Victory Tour with his siblings. He covered his mouth on most of the songs because he was not really singing. Too bad for him! And I don’t understand why people are still falling all over him. He is creepy indeed.
Stars…………..burn out sometimes. So sad.
you losers need to quit hating on michael, he didnt sing cuz he didnt feel like it
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: What a freak. I recently saw a video clip of him singing when he was about 10 years old. This can’t be the same person–he’s more like some kind of modern, reconstructed, skin-bleached, make-up heavy Frankenstein monster. Every time he appears in public, he makes a spectacle of himself, even when he doesn’t do much of anything (like sing). He’s one sick, perverted puppy.
Creepy. Just plain creepy.
Its sad that we still let people like MJ and OJ into our lives via tv. They should be banned. Its amazing what money can do. If these two were “normal every day” child molesters/murders they’d have been put away a long time ago and never heard from again…
Amen Kelly. Chris Rock once said that if OJ had been a janitor, he’d be “Orenthal the murdering Janitor James Simpson”
OJ and Michael Jackson are no exceptions to a hole in the criminal justice system that says rich celebs aren’t really accountable to the law. Any drunk white guy making anti-semitic tirades to a Jewish Arresting officer after getting busted for a DUI would probably still be rotting in jail, but not Mel Gibson. Most college age guys would do time after getting accused of rape in a “he said, she said” case where it’s pretty clear he raped the woman, but not William Kennedy Smith. And most men would be found guilty for hiring some guy to kill their wife in cold blood, but not Beretta. Courtney Love kept using heroin (a felony) but stayed out of jail, and just how much time did Willie Nelson do after the cops found him transporting a POUND AND A HALF of marijuana accross state lines? The less said about Kobe Bryant the better…Celeb scandals are universal, as seems to be their acquittal rate.
The difference between most celeb “crooks” and OJ/MJ is that most of these folks apologize, get themselves out of the limelight, and reinvent themselves a few years later. But OJ and MJ both seem obsessed with their most negative public personas, and making sure we forget them for the good they did, and only remember them for the heinous crimes they were accused of.
I agree with everyone whole heartedly, except Jamal. I’m not calling you out, but seriously, no one is actually hating. We’re stating our general opinions, as most blogs allow, and we’re only mostly stating negative comments for what I can assume are two chief reasons.
1. This was billed as Michael’s “comeback” appearance/performance to all media outlets, where he would not only be accepting the Diamond Award, but performing his massive hit, “Thriller”. Not Chris Brown covering the song while Michael appeared looking like the Crypt Keeper wearing a left-over Michael Myers mask from Halloween.
2. This was not just his “comeback” appearance, but first major appearance since beating the molestation charges and moving to Bahrain and now Ireland. IT IS CREEPY he surrounded himself with more kids. Its even creepier that those kids’ parents even let them share the stage with him!
And finally to Elizabeth & JuJu, completely agree, whatever vocal abilities Michael had, he’s destroyed with the numerous nose jobs. if he can even try and re-invent himself without falling flat on his face, its gonna be a stretch, since he probably can’t even perform half the hits from his catalog any longer.
Ep Sato/Phil
How true, every word the two of you wrote. Ep, what you wrote could be a newspaper column. Excellent!
Yes.
As to only seeing 3 minutes of this footage in a fan-recorded live video on Youtbe, this is very, err… unexplainable.
What did bother me the most was people acually (and STLL to this day)believing it was a ‘comeback’ cameo. Think about it– COMEBACK. What are they talking about? Like I said,I watched it, expecting to hear MJ souful voice and all I heard was; ‘I can’t hear you… what are you singing… are you singing… can you loosen up… can you keep the pacing in time…’. Go figure. This is not a freaking comeback; a public display of undirection would be better.
Speaking from my perspective, he needs to be reclusive for awhile(no maybe forever), cause almost everytime he gets on stage, and something is wrong, BAM! Right in the headlines the next day.
The least we could give him is a relative point of view(or a cough drop for that matter).
The man cannot sing anymore. He has to fake it on stage. When he records, I gather, that technology plays a big part in his sound. Remember, he has had one nose job too many, and that is falling apart. Oh sorry for calling him a man. He is still very much a child.
