'Heroes': Error message

Look, I don’t mean to kvetch mightily about Heroes (which I totally heart), but if Tim Kring and his staff are going to throw little Read the full post.

While watching the show I immediately said to my wife “I sure wouldn’t let you shave me with a straight razor…no way.”

Lorenzo-She didn’t use it before because she doesn’t like to use her powers as we see by the fact that she told HRG that the last time was the last time he said she would have to do it.

There’s not a lot I wouldn’t let Eden, if I had met her under similar circumstances, do to me. And remember, she already had his trust, either through suggestion powers or just for her caretaking and helping him break his physical dependency on heroin.

I don’t think Eden used her power of suggestion for shaving; that was saved for later. However, remember that he was just on drugs. That probably made him more likely to let a woman he didn’t know well shave him. It also did sort of seem like a hospital setting, so he probably didn’t feel threatened.

Yeah, the symbolism was a little too clear on that one. But then again, the series is a comic book made into a tv show, yes? Comics aren’t exactly the most subtle medium. Despite all my efforts not to like this show, I can not stop watching it.

My husband said the exact same thing–who uses a straight razor anymore? Seriously…

  • Celeste

Yes, the half-DNA-helix symbol has been seen on Mohinder’s screen (not just this past episode, but I believe in the first episode (maybe second) when Mohinder first found the code and it was scrolling across the screen, as well as on the Haitian’s necklace, Niki’s (and/or Jessica’s) tattoo, Claire’s textbook, several of Isaac’s paintings, Chandra’s book.. I forget where else. Also, I’m pretty sure the tattoos Matt and Ted have noticed are the beginnings of the same symbol. I have a feeling it has something to do with HRG’s organization, but that’s just a guess.
The “Are you sure you want to quit” message was a little obvious, but it didn’t really bother me. So far, I’ve been pretty impressed with how seamlessly a lot of the clues have fit into the story. Sometimes they’re subtle, sometimes they’re extremely obvious, but either way you don’t usually feel like they’re talking down to you. What a refreshing change from something like Lost where they shove everything down your throat and it still doesn’t make sense.

What else is new? This show is a lot of fun, but subtle it is not.

Maybe Mohinder’s dad is reincarnated in the computer.. how’s that for a theory?!

  • Juile

I have noticed that people make such big deal’s about the smallest details. Why can’t we just enjoy the show for what it is. Who really care’s if the message was on the computer and the fact that it was big. And who cares about the razor, if your paying more attention to that then I think your watching the wrong show. Looking back at the lame shows that aired in the past, we should be happy to have show like this.

  • Ep Sato

Marc, your theory is totally awesome. Not only does your comment remind me of this 1980′s movie where this computer gets hit by wine and becomes a smalk talker, but it also helped me remember that funny Simpsons skit where Abe Simpson dies and possesses the love Tester at Moe’s bar.
Even if it doesn’t turn out to be so, every time they show a computer screen on that show I am going to say “dude, it’s mojinder’s dad!”.
