i for one have really liked this season, so far. the only off episode was eko's. adawale put it well, though, when he said the character was totally complete with 23rd psalm last year.

I am SO sick of hearing people complain about Lost because they're not getting the answers they want. OK, whiners, tell you what: Let's say that in the very next episode, you all get what you want. We find out exactly what the black smoke is, who the Others are, how they got there, what the four-toed statue is about, all of that. ...Then what? We watch Charlie and Claire coo over Aaron for the rest of the season? No thanks. I like the mystery and I appreciate that the writers aren't laying everything out for me. I enjoy piecing theories together myself.

Dan-
You would argue losing patience is the very definition of patience? Interesting.
Here's a novel idea: why don't you people try watching "Lost" on an episode-by-episode basis like you watch, oh I don't know, pretty much every other TV show? This whole "answers now" thing is ridonculous.

What the hell do you people want from a TV show? Not every episode is going to be "the best episode ever" - that would be preposterous and impossible (both for the production and grammatically as well). Why must everything be spoon fed and immediate? Have a little patience - it WILL pay off. What makes me laugh most, though, are those who are pointing to The Nine as an example of exciting and well-told stories, unlike Lost now. I gave up on The Nine after three episodes when I realized that I could care less about the characters since they weren't built up for me - and it was going to take YEARS before we got to find out what happened in that bank. I didn't care enough about the characters to make it worth the wait, so I got out early. For my money (or time since tv is free), Lost has kept me fascinated and guessing like no TV show before it. I knew going in it was going to be a wait before we got all the answers, and since the journey there is still so exciting and intriguing (and yes, there have been missteps), I'll keep watching until the series finale (unless they pull an X-Files on us). Plain and simple, there are two things that killed the ratings: America's infantile and infintesimal attention span, and the horrible scheduling mistake they made last year. I'm not happy about the hiatus for three months, but I have no doubt about where I'll be on Feb 7th at 9:00 pm!

It's funny that many a Lost Zealot's immediate response to anyone losing interest is "you have no patience" or "go watch Three and a Half Men". Yeah that's it, after sitting through 50 episodes of Lost I have no patience. I would argue it's the very definition of patience.

Great episode. I like the idea of no reruns and the show back in Feb 07. Holidays are mostly reruns and specials on t.v. anyways. I have watched since first episode and will stay til the end. Just please don't kill off "Saywer"!!!

On how I would change the show now, fulfill my casualty prophecy on a previous post and stop with the obligatory flashbacks. You wanna tell me something important about Jack or Sawyer, that's fine, but don't make Kate a desperate housewife or Loacke a pot dealer, that's just stupid.

I'm assuming here that most posters here are at least somewhat television literate let's say. That you have all seen more than one TV show in your lives. Because if you have you should know that this kind of drag is commonplace. In my limited time on this planet watching television, I have seen one show able to be consistantly good. South Park. A show with absolutely no story arc, where it's only purpose is to mock the world around it. Even HBO shows begin to lag by their 3rd or 4th season. It's completely natural.
Now, when it comes to Lost, this scenario is even more probable. This show started with the simplest concept imaginable ("Plane Crash On Uncharted Island"), I dare anyone to keep that going for more than a season. So (as I assume this was the plan from the very beginning), they made it a bit more interesting, with the Hatch, Rousseau, the Dharma Initiative, and the Others. Add that to the long list of character arcs created through flashback, and it was inevitable for all this to come to a head at some point, and apperantly that point is now.
So I believe these 16 eps in Feb. will answer some questions (Locke is THIS close to finding something out, I don't know what it is, but it's something) but also create more questions, because, as we all know, TV shows are made to last as long as possible.

I'm sorry, but as Lost finales go, that was a clunker. Seriously, I was expecting more. All but the last 10 minutes could have been cut out and I wouldn't have cared.
