I think Meg Ryan’s name is attached to it because she has been the one trying to get the movie made for the last twelve years! She and Julia Roberts were supposedly doing it five or six years ago…..and then…nothing happened. I LOVE the original and hope the modern version will be just as wonderful. Candice is a terrific addition to any cast! I assume Meg is in the Norma Shearer role….with Lisa playing her best friend (Rosalind Russell’s role) and maybe Anne Hathaway as the homewrecker ? (a very very young Joan Crawford.)That is hard to imagine.

I love Meg Ryan. Sure, she looks stranger now with all that surgery, but she’s an underrated, good actress. She needs a good comeback, and hopefully this will be it.

I have been reading about this project for awhile. I think they know it has to be perfect to live up to the 1939 version. The good thing is that the real star of that movie is the dialogue. That said, it is hard to imagine anyone in the Norma Shearer role (Holly Hunter could probably pull it off) and whoever plays Crystal has to match up to, in my opinion, the best Joan Crawford performance. I will wait with cautious anticipation.

Lisa Kudrow and Meg Ryan? I hope you’re joking. Doesn’t anyone remember the last movie they did together playing sisters? Ugh!

YES! I didn’t realize I’d be so excited to see this news item, but I love “The Women.” I hope some woman or women have enough clout to get it made. I would look forward to seeing a modern take on it.
