I’m sorry to hear that ABC has pulled Six Degrees from its schedule through December (and maybe longer?). It’s a show that’s probably too nice for its own good; no wonder it’s getting eaten by CBS’ Shark every week. Its plotting is still scattershot, as it tries to force serendipitous connections among its six protagonists. Still, its dreamy depiction of a multi-ethnic New York, where city dwellers cross lines of race, class, and gender to help each other, makes it a nice Thursday companion piece to the network’s Ugly Betty. Plus, any project that gives jobs to Campbell Scott and Hope Davis is a good thing. Let’s hope ABC finds a way to bring it back after the New Year, when the primetime schedule is likely to become even more competitive.

Funny, I just posted how this was the only show I’ve officially dumped this season so far. I do love the cast, it just wasn’t interesting enough for me and with the low ratings I kind of expected this outcome. Not that low ratings would ever keep me from watching or expressing my love of a show I do thoroughly enjoy like “Veronica Mars” or the late, lamented “Wonderfalls,” so obviously something was missing from this show.
This is coming from the magazine that gave Six Degrees a D+?
Michael Ausiello, TV Guide scoopist, is reporting that “Men in Trees” will get the post-”Grey’s” slot starting Nov. 30th. I don’t know if that’s confirmed yet, but that’s his buzz
I find this as somewhat of a surprise. I knew it didn’t get huge numbers, but I actually thought this was one of my new shows that was in the least danger. oh well, it was also my least favorite. I will watch it if it comes back however.
I love this cast but I wish the show were better. I’m still giving it a chance but yeah, it’s mostly saved on tape for later viewing (ER won me over again).
Iwill miss this show because I have become a big fan of Campbell Scott.
Hope Davis is dreary and boring in everything. And your diversity wow looks weak when the black guy is a drug-dealing chauffeur. Now, that’s progress. Maybe he’ll go on Lost, be given magical powers, and then be killed off.
I just want to say that tonight’s episode of “The Nine” was the best yet!
TV Guide is now reporting that ABC says Six Degrees will return with new episodes in January. I’m guessing there might be an upcoming schedule shake-up. I just hope my “Nine” makes it. I’d rather see “lost” get cancelled, which I know many will say is blasphemy, but that’s just how I feel about the two series these days. Tonight’s “Lost” cliffhanger was great on some levels but then it’s like “What about Charlie and Claire”? “The Nine” however… WOW. Best episode yet.
I was really looking forward to 6 Degrees this fall and after investing three hours of my life in this show I just gave up. I’m not sure where the plot is or what is driving these folks all to “bump” into each other and in all my days of living in NYC I have never made friends while getting a mani or pedi with the stranger next to me. The cast is great – they just don’t have much to work with.
Now The Nine – there was a surprise. Loved last night’s episode.
If they wanted to put a middling JJ Abrams-produced show after “Grey’s” I would’ve gone with “What About Brian”…seems like a decent match.
