Everyone else is wearing the Constantine, so why shouldn't you?

20128__constantine_lForget the buzzhawk. Associate picture editor Katy Caldwell has noticed a new hair trend on fall TV: The Constantine. Named for the American Idol Season 4 finalist (pictured, left) and flaunted by Lost’s Henry Ian Cusick (I love you I love you I love you) and Santiago Cabrera from Heroes (you are also attractive), the Constantine is characterized by loose waves, lack of motivation to shave, and supersleek shine with a chance of grease in the early evening. Bonus points may be awarded for embracing layers, standing downwind, being hot.

The Constantine: The time is now! Who else should try it?

Just when I thought we were done looking at his silly mug-here we go again!!! He is such a cheese factory. What is so new about the hair? People have been wearing hair that way for years. Some have the hair for it, and some don’t. On some people it looks like a dirty mop, on others it looks like they are trying to cover up the balding-factor.

Don’t forget my favorite crazy hot doctor Gaius Baltar from ‘Battlestar Galactica’. Proof that the ‘Constantine’ will be popular even in the future!

  • Kari

I love you EW…I needed that giggle this Monday morning.

  • Slammy

Oh it’s a hairstyle. I thought it was a sex thing.

may the shaved head thing continue to work forever too, because its about the only look i have the hair for anymore…

  • almost 40

Henry Ian Cusick’s looks more natural than anyone else. Plus he’s just absolutely handsome.

  • fish

It looks best on Henry Ian Cusick!

  • fredric

Can we call it something else, please? He doesn’t need any more seconds of fame, however irrelevant.

  • beebee

I LOVE it! Constantine is gorgeous and his hair is beautiful. Am tired of the shaved look, all it says is “I’m going bald and I want to hide it.” LOL

  • jbdean

The style should be called The Desmond or The Ian because Henry Ian Cusick was wearing it long before Constantine.
Of the three you have pictured, Ian deserves the “center rectangle” because he does, by far, look the best! Long or short, Ian is just stunningly handsome.
And have to agree with you 110%: “Lost’s Henry Ian Cusick (I love you I love you I love you)” !!!

EW Screw up Alert: Gaius Baltar of Battlestar Galactica was rockin’ that hairstyle a good TWO YEARS before any of us knew who the heck Constantine Margolis was. If reaction to BSG vs. Constantine’s album are to be compared, Mr. Baltar will be rocking that ‘do well after Constantine is as forgotten as his namesake movie. So wait, the Popwatch folks and editing staff don’t all watch the show EW keeps giving props to? Wassupwiththat?
So I submit for approval a new hairstyle name that shares a monicker with the guy who ACTUALLY made it popular, not the ripped jeans wearin’ retro wanna be who copied it. It’s the “Baltar Bob”.

  • Lisa

Constantine is a very beautiful man, and his hairstyle suits him perfectly. No wonder others are copying it.

Thanks EW for the smile today! I have pics of that gorgeous hair that would make your toes curl! We’re not talking seconds of fame any longer…. we’re talking years.
Someone may have been wearing it beforehand, but Constantine has the whole package to make it famous.
Last attempt to post this wen’t poof. Sorry if you hear an echo.

  • marge

Love the look. Love Constantine…what can I tell you?

  • pandora

very very cute. had almost forgotten about constantine but yeah-loved him then and still love the look. the other two? haven’t a clue as to who they are. nice looking though.

  • C

Of these three men, Constantine is the most ridiculous looking. Nice serial killer mugshot dude. Thanks for the laugh Annie.

  • brandonk

I wish I could grow the Constantine, despite the negative connotations of that particular name, but my hair just doesn’t work that way. Sigh.

  • Debbie

Glad to see some word on Constantine. Does he still have a publicist? An Agent? A career besides Broadway?

  • mymagoogle

    Hotness. Rawr baby.

  • katie

That’s not the best pic. of Constantine, but he is the sexiest man on the planet to me. The other guys look hot too.

  • Howard

Patrick Dempsey will have it next, so that it will be the “McConstantine”, and then Tom Hanks will use it in “Angels and Demons”, which will make it the “McAngel”.

  • Erin

Egad. Henry Ian Cusick is made of sex.
    That is all.

  • Chloerose

Constantine is hot, hot, hot! I love the hair, the face and oh yeah he can sing too. Check him out on Broadway. He will be starring in the Wedding Singer until Dec. 3rd then he moves to Jacques Brell is Alive and Well. He is fantastic!! So worth the trip to NYC.

  • Michelleluvscon

Constantine is so beautiful and amazingly talented!!!!

  • Sara

I just don’t get it. He’s not cute. Giant forehead, greasy hair, wide face, bags under the eyes… And the pout is just far too much. He reminds me of the balding forty year old men who hit on college freshmen and think they actually have a chance. Ugh.

  • asmith

That hairstyle is not new. Why in the world would you put Henry Ian in the same category with Constantine? I’m sure he intentionally copied a sixth place reality show loser.

  • kellie

ahhh. constantine. so cute. i love the hair. broadway huh? very nice. oh and those other two dudes aren’t so bad on the eyes either.

  • Carpe Liberum

Oh, Constantine! I love you so much! PLEASE come back to Greek Speak! All is forgiven! Please!!! I can’t live without your nasty PM’s!

  • sweetconni

Constantine’s long hair is so sexy. Very cool there is a hair style named after him! I love that picture!

  • JillyRo

Ew…cannot believe that people find Constantine sexy. Yuck, his hair is SO greasy and that pout…yuck!!)
Perhaps my Greek hubby should go to Hollywood cuz he’s 100 times better looking that his fellow Greek countryman Constantine! I can only imagine how the gals would react to a REALLY goodlooking Greek guy like my hubby, if they are nusto about this fugly Greek guy.
