Clay Aiken: Daytime Idol?

Far be it from me to say that Clay Aiken is continuing on a one-way journey to a career playing hotel lounges, but according to People, dude will pop on the Dec. 22 episode of Days of Our Lives "as part of a private concert for Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) in the local Salem club called Dune." Anyway, I always thought of Clay as more of a candlestick in the touring company of Beauty and the Beast.

This has nothing to do with this blog entry…I read the KFed article. Oh my… Wow, so articulate, so engaging. I had to say something. If only we could ban that from the airwaves.
Sorry about the inappropriate use of space for Clay comments, but this had to be said.

Days is my favorite Soap and Clay is my favorite Idol(until Elliott’s CD comes out that is), so I’m happy!
P.S. I predict at LEAST 200 responses to this blog.

Michael- Do you report to us everytime Clay Aiken sneezes? I assume you get paid by the post and can pay off the Sentra with this one.
Imagine the wonderfulness of being KFed. To be that clueless, as to just how marginal you are.

I guess the Rolling Stones are on their way to hotel lounges too, since they also appeared on DOOL this year?

Actually Clay would be a great Candlestick in Beauty and the Beast-that character is a witty, funny, charming ladies man!
Thanks for letting us know about his TV appearances. Unfortunately I’ll be seeing Clay sing with the Charlotte Symphony Dec 22nd and will have to wait to see it the next day!

Mike 2:08:02 PM – you got that right. Slezak slams Clay every time RCA pays him to do so.
BTW, Days fans can listen to the song Clay is going to sing, and to the rest of his album here:

    Ha! Good one, Slezak.

I hate soap operas. Clay will not be the first singer to appear on one. Remember Rick Springfield, and Jack Wagner?
Unfortuately for Clay he has become a target, because of the scandal. Granted, his CD is a disappointment, but I hope better things will still come his way. Even if he sang at a lounge he would still sound good. He would be one act that will have everyone’s attention. His voice is quite good, but I realize he cannot sing every song ever made. He needs to find material he can sing about with deep feeling, because if he doesn’t feel it, I can’t feel it either when he sings.

What scandal? I’ve not heard anything other than Barbara Walters asking him if he was gay…is there something else going on? Why hasn’t EW reported it? I actually like Clay. I’m from NC so I’ve got to support our “Idols”. Well, except for Fantasia. I hate that woman in so many ways.
I normally agree with you Michael, but it’s clear that you and I have different tastes in this matter.

Thanks for the info! I know what I’ll be doing on the 22nd. Anyway, “Dude” has an equisite voice, really don’t care what you think.

  • Suzy

Get a clue, dude. Guesting on a soap is the done thing these days. Go, Clay!

  • curlio

    What happened to Clay?
He was the dude with so full of career potential post AI.
But, instead on riding an upward trajectory. It’s like
he hit a wall and going the down–what with his ATDW CD being a karaoke fest.
It’s like, almost all his career moves is a maneuver to being a HAS BEEN.
He needs a great CD of original material ASAP.

  • ceejay

I am already looking forward to Clay’s appearance in DOOL, my favorite alltime soap. Thanks for the tip. Clay is a consumate singer and I wish him a successful career. he truly deserves it.

  • Carol

“He needs a great CD of original material ASAP.”
Curlio, tell that to Clive Davis. He’s the one who scrapped Clay’s album of original songs in favor of stupid covers.

Stop picking on Clay for everything that he does! Lots of music stars are on soaps these days, as publicity is very important and lots of people watch them. I enjoy Clay’s voice, although I am not a big fan of his, but it is ridiculous how often you feel the need to slam him. EW does this–I remember a number of years ago, it was Michael Bolton singled out for special hatred. Nearly every article had to mention how bad EW thought that he was. Move on and leave the young man alone.
