I hate the new “skinny gap” commerical with the late Audrey Hepburn.I would rather stick a fork in my eyes then see it. Every time it comes up, I have to change to channel. Don’t get me wrong I love Audrey Hepburn, but what gap did what tasteless. I just hope that the commerical stops running to TV or at least for it not to show up so often.

I am 48 years old watching the Gap ad with my in-laws (around 70 years old). They are appalled at the image of Audrey Hepburn, but I am burning over the use of the AC/DC song. My God, we have no hope!

i’m 45 and have always admired audry hepburn, she was a great entertainer and humanitarian.
i also absolutly hate the gap and would never set foot in one of their stores ( i don’t think they even make clothes for grown ups anyway).
the commercial ,on the other hand, is very cool. i like the way the director (or editor) blended the funny face clip with semi-contemporary music. i wish it was a video instead of a gap commercial. i think i’ll just go rent funny face, it was always a favorite.

And, sadly, if the full figured gals were offended by the “skinny” pant they need to get over it. If one word sets you off, then you should look for the reason one word annoys you. Is “skinny” the word more offensive than “skinny” the image? Think about it. Fashions come and go with little regard for the size you wear. Fashion is fashion, nothing more. Women of all sizes should wear what they like, what they can, and celebrate fashion in general. There is no room in the world for envying the skinny gals or anyone one else for that matter. WE should celebrate indiduality, independence, and the artistic genius that creates the fashion we love to oggle, especially when little audrey wore them.

Not only does the GAP exploit whatever esteemed cultural icons possible to make a buck, it also beats its credit card customers to a pulp. Pay them no attention and avoid the exploitation in corporation land. Huge GAP between public appreciation and coveting the almighty dollar.

Audrey Hepburn herself said that she used her celebrity to raise money for UNICEF and her sons are still using it for that same purpose, just as she wished.
The Gap ads are putting her back in the public eye in a big way, introducing her to a new generation, and thereby extending that celebrity and its usefulness for raising money even further. I think that she’d be astounded and very pleased that she’s still a bankable commodity and that Sean and Luca are carrying on her work.

I love Audrey and I love the commercial. Who cares if the Gap is using her image to sell their “skinny black pants.” Honestly! If her family gave permission then they obviously felt confident she would be cool with it. As I recall there are always companies using stars (dead and alive) in their ads. Half the time I barely pay any attention. This time I did…because it was done VERY WELL.
The ad is a success and this blog and all the “OMG, I HATE IT” talk is proof. They’ve achieved their goal. They got you paying attention.
Love the commercial! Up there with the Volkswagon and Apple commercials.

By the way, no offense….but anyone over the age of 35 should not even care what the Gap is doing. I don’t think their target audience is in their 40′s or above. They know Audrey was a fashion icon and they are trying to bridge the Gap between the old and new. Hence using Audrey’s image to sell a style of pants that used to be in back in the day.
You know you’re too old to shop at the Gap if you saw Audrey’s movies when they first came out. Sorry to be so harsh, but all these “hate” comments are ridiculous.

Am i the only person who hasnt seen the ad? Anyway, im sure if the family approved it then Audrey would too, it would be good to know though that the company would at least donate some of the profits made by using her in the add would go to the Audrey Hepburn foundation for UNICEF, im sure then it would have made Audrey delighted as she would of done anything possible including using her imagine to promote awareness for those in need of help.

why don’t you try http://www.adzlive.com I just joined and they pay publishers for signing up. The payout is great compared to most ad sites and much better than google adsense.
