'Survivor' starts tonight!

Categories: Reality TV

94220__survivor_l_2Tonight marks the premiere of Survivor: Cook Islands, or: The Most Racist TV Show Of All Time! Nah, it’s not really, but if you listened to the press you might think it was. I mean, how dare Mark Burnett & Co 1) point out that we are all of different races and ethnicity and then 2) pit those races and ethnicities against one another?? That in no way represents the "real world." Ahem. But then host Jeff Probst just got himself in more hot water by referring to white folk as "mutts" and admitting to never really thinking about the differences between the people we call "Asians" before, and now everyone’s all a-flutter about what the 13th season of Survivor will bring. Will it open our eyes to our differences, or bring civilization as we know it to its knees?

Will you be watching? (Be sure to check back tomorrow to read Dalton’s TV Watch too.)

There’s too much “races pitted against each other” in the real world Whitney, we don’t need it on TV.

I say if they don’t have a problem doing it, I don’t see a problem watching it. The cast is more diverse than it’s been on any of the previous seasons which can’t be a bad thing.

Feh! All this racism talk is just marketing. I will watch it because – and only because – it is the new season of Survivor!! Bring on the bug guts!

I just watched the show for the first time in my life and all I have to say is, why did the black folks have to lose first. Damn! My people, my people.
