OMG I am so excited, Pop Watchers. And scared. Excited and scared! Why? Because today is the day People magazine announcestheir annual Best Dressed list! In my household, Best-Dressed Day isbasically a combination of the Fourth of July, Christmas morning, and anElton John concert all rolled into one: My family gets out of bed atthe crack of dawn, wraps itself from head to toe in couture, thenstumbles bleary-eyed downstairs to bunch together on the sofa and letthe fireworks begin, slowly turning the pages of the magazine one byone, oohing and aahing at the sartorially gifted as they float,rendered flawlessly in matte, ranked professionally by the rankingprofessionals at People, who cannot be beat when it comes to rankingall things beautiful.

1. Jennifer Aniston. Okay. Okay. She always looks very put together, buffedto a sheen, carnauba-waxed for protection against the elements, thatchoice is boring, but it works fine.
2. Halle Berry. Okay. She’s pretty, but I wouldn’t say best dressedper se. Plus, she’s hardly been that visible this year. Interestingchoice, People magazine. But you are my gods! So thus I nod and obey.
3. Jessica Alba (pictured). Wha? Is anyone ever even looking at her clothes? What in the name of Gwen Stefani is going on here?

I dunno, commenting has a fun audience participation element to it. Some of ya’ll are high-larious writers (Brandonk, Stephanie travitsky, Blackpower, Chuck U. Farley and many more), but do we want the responsibility on our shoulders of being the actual contributors? Responsibility’s a big responsibility man.
Seems like it’s more fun to let the pros do the writing and then let the rest of us masses hollaback. On the other hand, it would be kinda cool if readers got to do the occasional review…
I think best dressed lists are kinda misleading in this day in age. This is nothing new but any awards should be given to a stylist. Without the intervention of a stylist, most of these stars would not be notable by how they dress. Care to see how Aniston dressed B4 she became famous or any of the people on this list? This is why I truly hate when they call people style icons now. No one is really original, they dress mostly the way that they are ADVISED to dress. Most also dress in recycled styles that owe much cred to the original stylemaker. An interesting article would be on whose original style is THIS starlet borrowing from?!?

I’m with Ep – I’d much rather have the style gurus tell me who rocks what they’re wearing, then make snarky comments about their choices. If we let the masses decide, it’ll come down more to popularity rather than someone who really is well-dressed or (even better) not afraid to make fashion mistakes.
Early on in the post I detected sarcasm. The day the People magazine Best Dressed list is like the Fourth of July, Christmas,and an Elton John concert rolled into one. I hoped is was mocking the entire need for a best dressed list. But, no.
How about a best undressed list.(different magazine) List the women in order of acting ability, or intelligence, or how much they can drink before they puke.
The women have nothing to do with the process other than paying some stylist to put the right clothes, hair and make-up on them.
I just don’t understand the whole what they wear on the red carpet crap.

i wholeheartedly agree that jennifer aniston is the best dressed celeb…here’s why:
she always looks great whether in a gown or jeans and a tank; she always looks comfortable and real; and i never have to be put through the torture of seeing her lady bits on display every time she leaves the house.
in short, she always looks, well, good and relatable…that is why she was picked. oh, and that hair too…

Jennifer Aniston is boring. I really liked her in Good Girl and Office Space, but as an actor, person, and in her dresses, just…. blah. Always with the damn poker-straight hair. She really doesn’t turn me on. And being a straight female, that’s really important to me.
People magazine has gone completely downhill the past 5 years or so. It’s basically at the same level as a “Star” or an “Us Weekly.”

Jennifer Aniston?!! BORING!! Everything she wears looks the same!! Yes, once upon a time the hair was nice, but it’s ALWAYS the same blah hairdo (and looks messy). And MILLIONS of gals look good in jeans and a tank (her wardrobe staple). But what do I know. When I see her now all I can see is that Jay Leno-like chin and overtanned (and thus aging) face.
I’m guessing Jen’s “oh, poor me, Brad left me, wahwahwah” campaign got people to vote out of pity.

I agree that the Jennifer Aniston choice is boring. Does she ever wear anything that isn’t black or grey? I totally get why Halle’s on the list though. I always look forward to seeing what she’s going to wear on the red carpet. I may be biased against Jennifer because I still haven’t quite been able to shake the image of that horrible “hairstyle” she wore to the Emmy’s a few years ago. The one that looked like she forgotten to comb it for about a year.
