Trailer Blazer: 'Fur'

Categories: Movie Trailers

102225__fur_lFur (Nov. 10) So the good news is that this ”imaginary portrait” of Diane Arbus doesn’t cough up the typical "brilliant hero fights childhood demons and then triumphs/self-destructs" biopic hairball. Maybe because it’s not really a biopic at all, but more a matter of director Steven Shainberg (Secretary) introducing fictitious elements into Arbus’ journey from ’50s housewife to groundbreaking photographer. The mysterious tone (bunnies! masks! a muy hairy Robert Downey Jr.!) is certainly the kind of thing at which Nicole Kidman excels (I still get flashback-chills from The Others); so long as Shainberg doesn’t let things devolve into total art-house daffiness, this could be a sleeper on fall’s Important Movie calendar. Your thoughts, folks?

    Creeptastic!

But the movie itself is so bloody boring, slow and uninvolving. It’s almost impossible to get under the skin of any character, particularly Arbus. In the end she just comes across as a cold oddball who’s got a big thing for fur.
It’s nicely shot though, and I only saw a digital print.

I just saw this at the Telluride Film Festival and thought it was absolutely atrocious. I could not stop laughing for 5 minutes when Downey (aka Teen Wolf) is introduced. Just ridiculous…
Did they really need the 5 minute body-shaving scene??? So, So many problems…

I won’t be able to see this movie until my brain stops associating “fur” with Rosie & Elisabeth’s Tub Talk on the View!

I could watch nicole kidman sitting at a bench for two hours, without moving, she is that ethereal. I am so there.

Woah, the trailer was not as weird as I thought it would be. How come the trailer didn’t show Downey? He must be very furry in the movie.
