Mariah and Kelly in the same article, I’m lovin’ it!Wait, they weren’t the main topic? You serious? Clay? Clay Aiken? White dude from AI? Isn’t he like a porn star or something? Wait, you’re serious? Really, HE was the topic? Wait, but…why? Oh well, Mariah and Kelly RULE!
Ok, which kelly fan ghost wrote that “review”? I don’t believe for a milisecond Michael Slezak could remember Kelly singing that song ONCE 4 YEARS AGO! Never mind the fact she sang it exactly the same way Mariah did. I think Slezak just likes the hits he gets on this site from Clay fans.
It sure doesn’t inspire me to go buy EW .It just proves once again that EW is biased toward Clay Aiken and will find some way to dis him , no matter if it makes sense or not.
Not sure how you can claim Kelly Clarkson took chances with the song when she sang Mariah Carey’s verion NOTE FOR NOTE. I’ve only heard Clay’s version once but it sounded nice enough to me.
For those who are young and don’t remember the original or the remake, this will do just fine for them. That’s the target audience anyway… and the grannies. It will sound fresh to both generations.
Why is it when a Clay fan says they like his music they are a spammer? Are we supposed to pretend we don’t like it? LOL Yet too cool for school morons who waste entries by yapping about K.D. Lang think they are justified. Art is subjective. Opinions are like A holes, everyone has one. That Slezak gets PAID to express his just means he’s a lucky SOB – doesn’t mean his opinion counts more than mine. I love Clay’s version.
You don’t like Clay & that’s your perogative, but his version of WY is filled with emotion & love. Different than Nillson’s but both are very good. Why bring up Kel’s which is an exact ripoff of Mariah’s? Oh, these 5 Clay/hater/groupies you have, their life consists of following blogs & making the same stale comments thinking it has an effect & they are “kewl”. Yawn
I just read your review and I respectfully disagree, Clay Aiken’s version of Without You is outstanding. The vocals are superb !
Let me get this straight Kasey, the Clay haters follow blogs and make stale comments. So what is it that you do, follow blogs to contradict them?
Nilssons version cannot be compared because of his enormous vocal range on that song.
Secondly, I don’t think that people really got Badfinger. The two late founding members were deeply distraught and you can feel their pain in that particular song. Nilsson seemed to capture that feeling, and maybe Aiken can match Nilsson interpretation.
I dont see how his opinion is bias. He said he expected it to be better than it was, even if he hates Clay, the music should speak for itself, and all Clay is saying is that “I have millions of fans that will settle for mediocre”. whatever, he can do what he wants… and I heard it, and it was boring. I can’t believe he is actually releasing this as a single. And whats up with the covers?
Clay Aiken’s rendition of “Without You” is the best and the greatest I have heard. Clay Aiken’s singing gives me chills — I love Clay Aiken’s voice.
I love Clay’s version. It’s a great song and all who have sung it, have sung it well, but Clay’s is the very best.
Can’t make… informed comment…
[muffled inaudible voice]
Too many Claymates… pulling me into… the abyss….
Listened to “Without You” and enjoyed it. In fact, I think Nilsson would approve. But, dude, what’s up with the hair? Yikes. It’s one thing to darken it up a bit, but, boybangs? No pun intended.
I listened to the whole song and I just LOVE it. I love the way the song builds… soft at first and he wailing at the end. Clay goes for it and he has the best voice. I just want to hear that voice. He’s brave putting out covers but he’s good enough to pull it off.
There are original songs on the album too.
