The Couric countdown continueth

Categories: Television

10727__couric_lAs Phil Collins once wisely said: "Tonight! Tonight! Tonight! Whooooooooaaa!" We didn’t know what he was talking about. Now we know that he was talking about tonight, when Katie Couric will finally, at long last, make the news pretty. The buzz is good. The trailers are tantalizing. James "Titanic" Horner was chosen to write the music (though I understand it came down to the wire). There are sure to be plenty of explosions in the first act. All bodes well! I just hope the script doesn’t get too talky in the middle: Action, action, action! Plus a little heart. And a lot of leg. That’s what we’re looking for in the nipped, tucked, sexed up and face-lifted CBS Newscast, right folks?

But hang on, let’s not get pre-appalled. This will probably be the most TiVo’d newscast in history. We’ll be debating it for weeks, maybe years. I shall reserve judgment. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed for that Walker Cronkite intro. It’s been too long since I’ve laid eyes on those famous Cronkite gams.

Who cares. I can’t believe everyone is so obsessed with this.

Having just survived Rosie’s View debut, I have six hours to gear up for Katie. Could her face and half smile look any more glazed? All of the hype is ridiculous.

does anyone even watch the national nightly evening news anymore?

  • Theo

Yes, how dare that woman enter the man’s world of nightly newscasting! She’ll only be around as long as her looks are, because God forbid she’s judged on the job she does.
Thank you, Scott Brown, for setting that uppity newsgirl straight, and keeping women in their place. You are a true American, sir!

I used to watch it but won’t now. I don’t care for Katie Couric. The only reason I watched the “Today” show was for Matt Lauer.

I don’t care how Katie does…I watched that you tube link like 3 times and fell over laughing and it just made me envious w/ laughter towards Scott Brown knowing his job requires waiting for Katie to get on the air and to watch obscure but hilarious videos he can incorerate into his blogs…YOUR JOB RULES!!!

For Katie to make an real impact, she should have started 10 years ago. It’s the CBS(lost a lot of credibility)
Evening(people have gotten their news hours ago off the net)
News(For breaking news, everyone turns to CNN or God forbid FoxNews )
After the hype dies down, no one under 50 will care.

Why watch the network news what “The Daily Show” is way more informative?

It is an insult to all of the fine newswomen who have been doing broadcasts for years to make such a fuss over a morning entertainment host doing the news. And true to form, what was her big story? Pictures of Suri Cruise. I rest easier knowing that we can all forget about the war in Iraq, terrorism and the price of gas now that we have Katie to entertain us.

  • Big Momma

Again I say, I could never take anything Katie Couric says seriously.
