I think I know why, after all the hype, Snakes on a Plane had such a disappointing opening weekend: it’s because everyone read this hilarious post, live-blogging SoaP in its entirety, so no one actually needed to see the movie.

Sometimes the movie going public gets it right. There were weeks of hype all over the net, including this blog in a major way. And yet, people saw that this was a cheap one-note movie. Are the Fall movies here yet?
The Live Blog is better than the movie. AWESOME!
It was overhyped to to the point where most people just fedup
I had fun with SOAP! And just like Showgirls, it too will have a cult of college fans who take a shot every time Samuel L says a swear word…
Judging from the tepid response to this blog, and the middling box office over the weekend, no one really cared about the “mutherf—in snakes”.
To quote SLJ: I’ve had it with this mutherf—in hype for this mutherf—in movie.
Tom and DMA69 have nailed it on the head. Am I the only person who went and saw the movie out of the regular commenters on Popwatch? If the pop culture addicted folks who’ve been commenting about this flick for months aren’t going to see it, the public probably won’t either.
This idea of creative marketing doesn’t seem to be working too well. Serenity barely made back its money, and that movie too had a solid fan base as well as tons of word of mouth on the web, but it still could not attract mobiegoers.
I meant to say “moviegoers” not “mobiegoers”
I’ve had a busy week, & I knew I wouldn’t get around to seeing Snakes On a Plane last weekend, since it was my bday, but I finally saw it tonight, and I gotta say, it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. The acting of course was terrible, but I mean seriously it was FUN! I enjoyed it alot, it had it moments of suspense and its moments of comedy. It had everything I as a Pop Culture geek wanted. Sorry it didn’t make a huge box office like it had anticipated last weekend, but I def. enjoyed the motherfu(&in snakes on the motherfu(&in plane!!!!
