As a card-carrying square, my experiences with the Demon Cannabis are few and far between. Yet I’ll admit to something of a craving for Weeds, which pushes its second season on a stubbornly unscandalized public this evening. The dank dramedy stars my immortal beloved, Mary Louise Parker, as a housewife-turned-suburban horticulturist. (One day, MLP, you will succumb to me. Until then, stay in shape.) Still, this craving has’t risen to the level of actually setting my TiVo. Why’s that? Mainly because it’s full of old Wire episodes I can’t bring myself to delete. But also because something about the packaging feels, well, packaged. Felt the same way about Big Love, come to think of it: Seemed like a premise so ready made, I didn’t need or want to know any more.
But I hear Weeds gets better and better, so perhaps I’ll take a pull. (Come back to EW.com tomorrow for Hannah Tucker’s first TV Watch.) What’s the harm? I can stop any time.*
*Not entirely true. I spent most of the ’80s freebasing Airwolf.

FYI Scott Brown, MLP is the “Woman We Love” in the most recent issue of Esquire and she looks gorgeous!
I don’t get Showtime but I make my friend TiVo it and then we watch. We love!
I believe she got hotter AFTER she had a baby!
Oh this sucks! Weeds is on tonight, I am totally out of herb and payday isn’t until the end of the week.
Per Scott’s posting I am led to believe people watch this show while not on anything? That is just odd.
Elizabeth Perkins looks absolutely beautiful in that picture.
I can’t get over the way Mary Louise-Parker carried on with her cackling laugh when she won the Golden Globe last year; it nearly caused my ears to bleed.
This show looks great but why did SHO move it to Monday nights? I don’t subscribe to SHO but my friend does and that’s where I watch most of my cable shows. Looks like i’ll be missing this season, WHAAA!
Love, love, love it! I’m so excited it’s back. Then entire cast, including the kids, kick ass, but Justin Kirk has my heart for his sexy hilarity in every episode. It’s on at 4:20, right?
One of my all time favorite shows is coming back (and I’m so happy that MLP beat all of the girls of D.H. for a Golden Globe) but I’m going to miss it today because of my 28-year-old stupid brother is making me record WWE (FYI: I have only one TiVo and it’s full of nothing but sportcenter and old Detroit sports team games that will NEVER get deleted). This is saddest day of my life! I wish I had some “Weeds” to make it better.
The first ep rocked! No spoilers here, but they totally set up an amazing season. Between the bakery, the pot growing business, the city council race and the return of Celia as a mean woman who harangs her overweight lesbian daighter, this is going to be one memorable season!
My name is BLACKPOWER but I am totally in love with Mary L. Parker. Its just something about her and her character that makes me want to help her. I loved her ever since I saw her in the movie GRAND CANYON. Along with The Wire and Wife Swap, WEEDS is abolutely must watch TV.
I have seen the next four episodes. Kepp watching. It only gets better, honestly. And both the next few episodes end with stunning last lines/cliff hangers that made me instantly crave the next installment. Trust me, it is worth the wait.
