The indispensable beautynthebeat blog has a link to Beyoncé’s new single, ”Ring the Alarm,” and let’s just say that, like that damnable first morning sip of Swiss Miss that scalds your tongue and renders your taste buds useless for the whole day, this track is H-O-T. (Yes, readers, so en fuego, in fact, that I’ve been reduced to overwrought similes — ones that, no doubt, leave me open to scathing remarks about my taste level in general.) Anyhow, while I won’t dispute beautynthebeat’s opinion that there’s something a tad Kelis-like about Beyoncé’s rant, how can anyone deny the sparse urgency of ”Ring the Alarm,” or the unforeseen sense of fury Ms. Knowles brings to the track? C’mon, it’s unlike anything she’s released to date. The only thing that could make this better would be a video featuring a gargantuan Beyoncé taking it to the streets, Godzilla-style, to wreak havoc on her do-wrong man and the other woman. Stomp the sh– outta them, B! Are you with me, PopWatchers?

i dont know why but i dont like this new song of hers…i love deja vu and idk why it bombed…..if people think deja vu is doing bad then this will probably do worse
H-O-T is right Mr. Slezak. I, unlike most people I know, totally L-O-V-E Deja Vu. If her whole album is like these two songs then oooh shooes I’m excited!
Oh and the Godzilla video idea – brilliant, Michael. Just brilliant!
I, too, grew to like Deja Vu (I think it was the video), but, Ring the Alarm is much more immediate and should put all the Crazy In Love retread business to rest. Seeing her perform this at the VMAs may actually give me a reason to watch.
I still don’t like Deja Vu (it sounds like she’s screeching the whole time) but this track is hot hot HOT! Love it.
the whole air raid sound I guess is HOT, like Fergie’s “London Bridge”, its a-ight
This song is hot lik fire. The beat is out of this world(oh how I love the fire sirens). Her vocals are crazy. Yeah it does reference kelis screaming on “I hate you so much right now), But Beyonce brings her own unique style to the song. If she delivers a great video and a ever greater MTV awards performance this song could easilty dominate the fall billboard charts.
“Ring the alarm, I been in this to long, And ill be damned if I see another chic on your arm”
Yeah I am so loving this “take no bullshit” Beyonce. I Love Love Love It. Haha @ the video being a gigantic Beyonce terrorizing manhattan and her cheating boyfriend lol. Slezak you are a hilarious man.
i give her nothing but praise for making her new album so hate-it-or-love-it. even if it ain’t your cup of tea, you’ll definitely still notice it. it’s so in your face, has such a sense of purpose and immediacy to it — brilliant.
I’m actually a fan of “Deja Vu”, but this quick release of another single is an acknowledgement that “Deja Vu” bombed.
Wow, this is awful. An absolutely terrrible single. Who would have guessed that Beyonce would be faltering so early in her career?
She could be calling for a DC reunion soon at this rate.
I like it- it is definitely different. It is nice to see someone like her take some risks. She could continue to release the same old same old and stay very popular. Deja Vu really grew on me too and then I became a little obsessed with it. I think I will be buying B-day.

I think she rushed the production of this album. In her interview with Giant, she said that she was trying to keep it a secret from her dad and wrote and recorded everything in about two weeks.
Fire! That was crazy intense, from the get-go. Beyonce is undeniable. Trust…I’ve tried. But no longer!
Setting the idea of Kelis aside for a hot sec, anyone else think the beginning and mid-song rants are Beastie-ish? All she would have to do is holla out the word “Sabotage!” and the lawyers would be flockin’.
I love this!!!
i love this song it is nothing that she has here done before and the beat is crazy, can’t wait to see the video
Horrible.
Personally, I am feelin’ this song. Beyonce’s taking some risks, and these news songs are fresh… at least they’ve got some life to ‘em (unlike, say, the offerings from Cherish or Cassie as of late).
That said, I’m not sure these songs can really catch on to the mainstream since they’re so take-’em-or-leave-’em. Her loud screaming and the intensity of the tracks may just be too much of a turn off to too many people… I’m hoping “Ring the Alarm” catches on though.

All of Bey’s songs are busy. I would have thought that most of Bey’s fans would like this. Don’t know why she is rushing out her 2nd single. Her Deja Vu song is doing well. It’s not number one (it’s number 4). Did she expect number one on every song.
This sons sucks. Just like Deja Vu.
She ripping off Kelis and yet, I love this song. Beyonce should thank her beau former rival’s girl (speaking of which, how long do you think this Jay-Z and Nas thing is going to last?) for her this song because it’s going to be a hit!
Deja-Vu sounds too much like a deja-vu of Crazy in Love even jayz’s rap sounds pretty much the same.) It’s a copy of a copy that fades with each printing. If she’s releasing this second song so quickly, it’s because no one really liked the first one and now, Beyonce won’t have none of that especially since LaToya debuted so high on the charts with her solo album and post-Destiny Child’s days . Hmm.
Like they taught me in school, I’m not going to say anything at all if I have nothing nice to say. But I can at least say that I have nothing nice to say about “Ring the Alarm” or Beyonce’s general trend away from songs that are coherent and have some positive musical qualities in them. Oops, I guess that counts as saying something.
I’ll keep the hateration brief. Likes: Beyonce’s strength. Dislikes: Everything else. When’s “Dreamgirls” coming out again so I can like Beyonce again?
This song is pure GARBAGE, just like deja vu
This song is wickedly hott….infectious and dangerous all in one…Ring the Alarm is a MONSTER!!!!!!
She is a GENIUS…
B is on fire. and she wants to kill us all. which is in its own way kinda hot.
No melody, no memorable hook/sample, no typically melliflous, smooth vocals from Miss B. Where’s the catchiness of “Crazy in Love”? It’s obvious she’s trying to be her generations Tina Turner by mixing harsh instrumental (sirens and other alarm sounds that have no flow with the song’s attempt at melody; this is not techno, electronic, not even heavy metal) with R&B.
She needs to go back to ballads and gospel-inspired R&B. Her last decent song was “Check on Me.”
People De Ja Vu did not bomb. Last week it was number five on the charts which was a jump of over 25 spots from the previous week.
This song is fierce! I’m with you, simply HOT!
I think this song if very hot. I especially like that its different from anything that she has ever done, and its different form anything playing on the radio nowadays. And seeing how she will be performing the song at the VMA’s, it’s not really early for her to be releasing the song. Last point, the song hasn’t been officialy released yet anyway.
Terrible.
