Who should 'Lost' hire next?

Categories: Lost, Television

93959__sanchez_lWhen a series isn’t afraid to kill off regular cast members, then inevitably, it’s got to restock the pond. And that’s exactly what seems to be happening over on Lost, which just signed Kiele Sanchez (pictured), a veteran of failed series such as Related, Four Kings, and Married to the Kellys, to play the role of a woman named Nikki. According to Variety, Sanchez is rumored to be a potential paramour for recently added Rodrigo Santoro.

Now, not trying to stuff my ideas down Carlton Cuse’s hatch — Lost is always, like, 11 steps ahead of me, after all — but if I were casting director for a day, I’d find a spot on the island for Gabrielle Union, an actress who should really be a bigger star than she is — if she could just find the right role (maybe something tart and tough, like she played in Bring It On). And, anyhow, with Ana-Lucia and Libby having met their makers, Sawyer and Hurley are both in need of somebody to pine for.

Now it’s your turn, PopWatchers. If you were in charge, who would you cast on Lost?

I’d love to somehow see Emily vanCamp in the mix to bring in a younger perspective, though I agree that Gabrielle Union would also be an inspired choice. It’s also always fun to see alums of Joss Whedon’s shows pop up in genre fare, so let’s add Amy Acker, Charisma Carpenter, and James Marsters to that list as well. If they’re looking for more international stars, it’s hard to beat the ultra-classy Shoreh Aghdashloo.

I am psyched for the next season of Lost, no matter who gets cast. My friends recently sat through season 1 (with me in tow), and as good as it was, Season 2 was so much better. Could we expect any less from season 3?
However, after seeing last night’s Entourage, I was REALLY hoping to throw some jabs at Seth Green (did anyone else cheer when he got his lights punched out by Jonny Drama and company?). So here goes: Kiele Sanchez is cute, but she was in Four Kings, a series that actually made me want to contact the network and ask for that half hour of my life back. Take that Seth Green!

I’d LOVE to see Amy Acker and Charisma Carpenter – two great actresses desperately in need of a regular spot on a great show like Lost.

I’m sad that Related won’t be coming back, it was a good show with potential.

I’m kind of hoping they hold off and don’t hire anyone else…there are too many chcaracters to follow as it is. I thought Season 1 was much better than Season 2….I acknowledge the show should evolve, but I kind of miss the old days, pre-Libby and Ana Lucia.

Lost always gives me trepidations only to pleasantly surprise me. I sure hope this will be the case again, but where are all of these staggeringly good looking people supposed to suddenly appear from? Zeke and The OTher Formerly KNown as Henry aren’t exactly lookers and that helped in the believability. Also, NIKKI? Does a boat of wayward strippers wash ashore?

As long as we are pining for actors from Joss Whedon’s stable, where on earth is my favorite Emma Caufield? I think she is fabulous and haven’t seen her anywhere!

All I can say is that I hope that none of these new character get killed off right away. One of the most frustrating things for me on Season 2 was that after investing so much time and effort in the Ana-Lucia character (and Libby, to a lesser extent), the writers killed both of them off just as we were starting to understand and accept them as part of the cast. I hope they won’t make the same mistake again.

I think another actor (who isn’t bigger but should be) would do well on Lost: Desmond Harrington. He has that 1000 yard stare and reserved acting style that bespeaks of all sorts of inner-turmoils. Very good for flashback’s and the like.

LOST needs a hot chick that can be a love interest for Hurley, cause it’s about time the fat boy gets the girl!

I second Emily vanCamp. She was fantastic on Everwood. Or, even better, Evan Rachael Wood. I know she does independents now, but she is just fantastic. I wish we could see more of her in mainstream stuff.

  • Lorenzo

If I was in charge, I would hire Naomi Harris. She really a GOOD scene-stealing actress and she would fit perfectly with the surviors–or the others. I glad EW put her as “Must Blockbuster Breakout” in their Must List issue ’cause she really is a MUST!

I think Julian Sands or James Nesbitt would be fabulous.

I completely second the Emma Caulfield casting. If there’s one thing the ladies of Lost lack is a spritely sense of humor. Emma could totally bring her charm and beauty to accent the show. And come on, David Fury and Drew Goddard (former Buffy-ites) work for the show now; surely they can get her in on the action.
I also really adore Kelly Rutherford. Her classy presence is lovely and mysterious. Qualities perfect for Lost.

  • Sherry

I think Shiri Appleby, Sara Rue or Julie Benz would me a great addition.

  • Snsetblaze

I like the idea of Josh Whedon’s alums popping up.
I agree with Charisma Carpenter or Amy Acker. How about Nicholas Brenda or any member of the Firefly/Serenity cast, especially Jewel Stait or Nathan Filion. Or Jeffrey Coombs, a character actor who’s a sci fi staple. Or even Bruce Campbell.

They should cast Teri Snatcher (ok Hatcher) and get her killed for good!

  • SS

    Shannen Doherty

  • Tom

I think they should cast Sarah Michelle Gellar

  • Therefan

Rachel Blake should get on the show.

  • stoney

Lisa Nicole Carson (Ally Mcbeal’s roomate Renee). Quirky with a strong presence, she could really be an interesting addition…as a castaway or as an Other.

  • Donna

Nobody. They should just slowly kill off people until only Walt is left. No, wait, until only Vincent is left! Because Vincent is the MasterMind! I’ve done it! I’ve solved the mystery!! It was Vincent all along! Ba-wah-ha-ha-ha-ha!

  • Scooter McGavin

    Snoop Doggy Dogg

  • Anne

I really have no opinion as to who should join the cast, since I have no clue what roles the producers/writers/creators of Lost have in mind. But I trust them, because MOST of the time, they’ve made great character additions as well as picking great actors for those roles.
By the way, are any other Lost fans totally angry at the lack of award recognition so far (aka Emmy recognition) for most of the stellar cast/guests? I mean, how did Michael Emerson (not-Henry Gale) NOT get nominated? And what about Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Eko)? I’m glad at least Henry Ian Cusick (Desmond) did, but that’s not enough recognition of the incredible cast. Don’t even get me started on no Best Drama nom.
