Nerd Watch: 'Lost' figurines exist!

Figurine!

Yes, there are Lost figurines. Yes, one of them is Dead Shannon, for whom there was apparently more demand than Sawyer, Sayid, Claire (with retractable "action womb"), or any of the other Losties who didn’t make the action-figure cut. Oh, and yes, there is a playset, for the creepily childlike 46-year-old in all of us. They even talk! And come with little trinkets (e.g., a lottery ticket for Hurley, pictured with real-life inspiration Jorge Garcia).

Now you don’t have to wait till Wednesday nights to be mystified, mildly confused, and occasionally enraged: You can do it yourself, in the privacy of your bedroom. (Which is probably what you were doing in there anyway.)

Who’s hot for these things, Losties? Seriously, speak up. I’m curious. Do you play with them? Do you simply "collect"? Do you try out alternate plotlines and send them to Cuse/Lindelof HQ? I’m a certified nerd, I’ve all my shots, but I’ll admit it: I… do…  not… GET.. the figurine thing. I know, I know: I’m such an Arzt. As such, I welcome your detonations below.

    I’ll be first in line.

    where’s the sawyer?!

  • Rahul

I want a smoke cloud figurine

Shannon’s dead, while wearing a bikini?! XDDDDDDDD
Well, you can put them in a special spot and admire them (like most figure collectors do). Or you can play dollhouse with them.

If the figurines are made by McFarlane Toys, then that company is well known for hopping on the pop culture bandwagon and turning out figures of the latest hottest thing, in a nerdy sort of way, of course. I doubt they’ll ever have Paris Hilton, but they have made Spawn and Yellow Submarine era Beatles figurines before. (I once owned all of them!)

I’m holding out for the “Lost” View-Masters and Dharma-brand Colorforms…

Most people just display them, on shelves and such. I’m sure there are those who play with them, but mostly they’re just there for the pretty.
As for Shannon being more “in demand” than Sawyer, Sayid, et al, this is only the first set. They’ll release more later. They usually space out the most popular ones throughout the series, otherwise a lot of people would buy the ones in the first run and then forget about them.
These are some of the most amazingly lifelike ones I’ve ever seen, for sure. Especially Locke & Charlie. Just whoa.

I want a notHenry doll, with him beat up and locked away in the Pearl Station. That way, all I have to do is look at it before going to bed to ensure maximum nightmare action.

I want to hear your Weird Al Bush tribute song, to the tune of “Glycerine.” Ready? Go.

You collect. McFarlane makes the same sort of baseball stautes and he is known to make them look really accurate. I guess it would be kind a hazy line between play and collect if the things talk, because in my mind then it becomes much more of a toy and not as much of a collectors item

  • Angela

I was skeptical, but they do look pretty amazing, except for Kate — she looks more generically pretty and not particularly like Evangeline Lilly. They also chose some interestng quotes for them to say.

  • Tim

    They don’t look too bad.

I’m a long time action figure collector and usually set up the toys in some diorama. Then my friends come over, get wasted and put all my figures in compromising positions. People have really dirty minds, especially with the Star Trek toys for some reason.
The lost toys look cool, but McFarlane’s known for making non action figures with hardly any articulation. I’ll pick them up in the Toys R Us clearance aisle next January…

  • Elle

    This is just sad.

  • Christopher

    Silly, geeky 6″ action-figure collectors!
I’ll wait for the 1/6 scale versions.

  • EP Sato

On the geek tip, how come we haven’t seen Battlestar Galactica figures yet? I wouldn’t mind it if my friends put my Lee Adama and Starbuck action figures in a compromising position…

  • Wes

How come Hurley hasn’t lost any weight after all that time on a deserted island? There can’t be too many carbs there.

Well, the fourth season of LOST has already aired and since I’m a new fan of the show and haven’t heard anything more concerning figurines of our favorites characters I was wondering if they had come out with any current ones as of yet.
