I think this is a great casting choice. Surprising, but great. Just look to “10 Things I Hate About You” and you’ll see Heath once had a playful side, look at “Brokeback” and you know he has a deeper side. I can’t wait to see the two combine. And I think with make-up he’ll look like a great Joker as well.
frydchkn, did you see “Brokeback” Heath is not flamboyant in it… maybe I’m misreading your comment

Honestly, this is the biggest load of bollocks i’ve heard in a long time. Heath Ledger is not Joker material, simply put he does not have the mentality of it. All of these comic book movies really dont follow suit with how they should be portrayed. Batman is DARK, people die and a lot of the killing is done by the joker. The Joker doesnt see anything wrong with killing someone in a practical joke, laughing the entire time joking of things that should never be brought up. All that comes to mind is straight laced cowboy-top who cant admit it. There are better choices in my own opinion, but what do I know, its only been my life enjoying these comics?

OH noooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! And they started off so good with Batman Begins. Ledger is an average actor at best. He doesn’t have a lot of range. His co-star in A Knights Tale is the one that is destined to be the Joker. Paul Bettany would be the animation series Joker brought to life. Well I just hope the makeup job is great and Ledger does his homework on this character because he is going to have to be better in this than any movie he’s ever done to pull off this character to Batman fans.

I feel like Heath Ledger will be an amazing JOKER. He is versatile, and has sooo much depth and feeling. I really can’t believe all the negative feedback. His movies to this time with the exception of Brockback MTn, haven’t really showcased what he can do. He started in pretty boy roles, but I think the role of the Joker will show him, and all the viewing public what he is really capable of.

Whoever says that Heath Ledger is a “bad casting choice” will most likely be eating their words when this movie comes out. There is no doubt that he has done some shiiiiiity movies in the past, but so have almost all actors. The fact is, Ledger is growing as an actor. He has been typecast for so long and had more than a few bad roles and played a few questionable characters. I think he is eager to show what he can really do. On top of that, in many cases and actor’s performance may be enhanced by the other people involved, and the group of actors assembled for this movie is great in my opinion. You also have to take into account the fact that there is no way that Chris Nolan, being who he is, would let “The Joker” of all characters be played by a schmuck. There are many factors that go into a great performance, not just an actors past work. The fact that we sit around and argue like this is pointless anyway. He’s either going to suck, or he’s not. I’m really hoping for the latter.

I think he will be a great choice for Batman..it seems to me like he pours his heart and sould to every movie he does..
RIP Heath.. u were so awesome

Just goes to show how wrong so many of you were, and how right Nolan was. It is now two weeks after the movie opened and Heath’s performance is rightly being considered one of the greatest onscreen villians of all time.
RIP Heath – such a tragic loss
