Ok maeve, here’s the cliffs notes version
I’m glad Star is gone, she got freebies for her wedding and is low class. But I hate Rosie too because she’s fat and opinionated, but I’m not racist or homophobic. Oh, and Barbara Walters is a hypocrite, and old too.
I love Star, she’s sassy and tells it like it is, so what if she got freebies for her wedding, everybody likes free stuff. So what if Rosie is fat and opinionated, that’s why we like her, and you are racist and homophobic if you don’t like Star and Rosie, so there.
There maeve, that’s the cliffs notes version of everything said.

i am glad star is gone, she is annoying and at least rosie will be funny and has talk show experience. good riddance!

I agree with both “Echo” and “Dash”…I started watching The View from its start…Meredith, Star, Joy and Lisa were the best combo. Star has come along way and I have not always agreed with her presentation, but let us remember:- Its her wedding she might not have gone about it the right way, but she had her “dream wedding”…I was actually at the Waldrof on the night of her reception and thought “If only some of us were so fortunate”…Dont knock her for her dream, she herself has said if she could do over she would have humbled herself. The manner in which she lost her weight is no ones business but her own, she did what was right for her not for the viewers. Barbs, no matter how “great” she is as a journalist got pied in the face along with the ABC Execs and are trying to blame it on Star….they all had their annoying times but how powerful a woman Star is that she has brought down the ratings of a show produced by THE BARBARA WALTERS…everyone contributed to its low ratings. Since they are cleaning shop, they should think about replacing Elizabeth with someone who can finish a sentence it would also be helpful that these sentences make sense. Not looking forward to Rosie (sooo over her) and latest reports Brandy…in the famous words…”I have taken the time and once enjoyed the view.”

Okay nancy–that’s the most ridiculous statement to date…The reason that people preface their dislike of star and/or rosie with that statement is because everyone is so politically correct that the minute they state their opinion, people scream “homophobic and/or racist”. Last time I checked, this was AMERICA, and I’m allowed to not like rosie for reasons other than her sexual preference. She is loud, obnoxious, low class and yes indeed, shoves her sexual preference down my throat. I honestly don’t care if she is gay or straight, but I’m sick of hearing it from her. How many straight people do you hear shoving the fact that they’re straight down your throat in every conversation? If you don’t want to be treated different, for heaven’s sake quit making it an issue all the time…

Now the ABC Network should check out the scores on Elizabeth on the View who talks much to fast and is very densed.
The View has lost my time. Barbara is washed up and is not good at replacements. Joy will be the next to relocate. She has a lot going on and should move on also.

What if people got this fired up about presidential elections??

cls: I’m surprised someone responded to my comment! With all these posts. I’m flattered (I think). My main point was supposed to be about the spelling and grammar complaints I kept reading about. I thought everyone who posts here has the right to say what they think, and so I was trying to defend them, even if what they say isn’t grammatically correct. But I have the right to my beliefs, too. Whenever I hear someone start a comment with “I’m not racist…” or whatever, I know that the second part of the sentence is gonna be offensive. It’s like they’re reassuring me that it’s okay for them to be offensive because they aren’t REALLY like that. I agree with you that you have the right not to like Rosie O’Donnell for other reasons than the fact that she’s gay. I don’t like her either, for all the reasons you cited. But you forgot one. The woman is not funny. And she’s supposed to be a comedian? Anyway, have a great day, and have a great summer. Peace.

Star and Baba Wawa deserve each other. Period.

Stack – Did you have any idea this is what you would have caused??? Too funny. I can’t believe people really care this fanatically about this. Its a riot. Especially those of you getting all wrapped up in the race wars and homophobia! Here I thought it was just about Star sucking and Barbara bringing the hammer down. How naive of me! Excellent work people! I successfully wasted a number of post-lunch hour minutes. Fantastic! (And Ned – thanks for the Cliffs Notes version…I wish I had seen it sooner – would have saved me some time).
Sal – great point about if only this much fervor was saved for presidential elections!
Now let me just run spell check…..sweet. Later folks! Happy blogging!

Once you get to know that Star is about “ME”, one can accept her in spite of it; and maybe even have a laugh at it – she did it so well. we probably all have a “ME” person in our lives; we either accept it, avoid the person or fight and make everyone uncomfortable. Incidentally if you don’t have a “ME” me person in your life – maybe you are the one.
Unless you don’t accept freebees – get over it.
I liked all the women on the view, that is what it was suppose to be – people with varying opinions. you probably agreed with at least one of the opinions from each of them at one time or another. I loved the fact that they were spontaneous and not always self editing. This was the most “truth” that I had seen on a TV show at any one time. – You can get all the lies you want on the news every day. It was the “truth” for them – just not maybe your truth.
Shame on Larry King – he was really after Star. I hate that “I’m asking the question, but we really know better attitude”.
As for Liz on the show. You try being the one conservative with four liberals. Or if you are a liberal let me put it this way. How would you like to be the one liberal with four conservatives every day.
    Liz

first off i think star was an very cool and nice person even if they fired her; her husband has enough money to take care of her she is also a lawyer who needs the view anymore

  • rara

Everybody just stop and think if you know you were being replaced by somebody who is jealous of you would you be able to come to work and pretend everthing is ok like Star did. IT IS NOT EASY. So give her a little credit.

I have enjoyed reading many of the the comments expressed. I must say I enjoyed “The View” with Star as one of the members. I was surprised to see that Star’s ratings were so low. I thought Star’s opinions were well expressed and I am sorry that she no longer will be on the show. I wish her all the best and will be watching her new show.

  • Muriel

I was very unhappy that Star was forced to leave. While I am not particularly religious I did enjoy hearing from an intelligent Christian. I always have thought that The View is a “girly girly” show ( in the good sense) but wonder if this focus will continue. I think ABC made a big mistake
