Even money says Snape will get it in this one, which bums me out. Snape is my favorite too, probably because he’s so sarcastic and slimey in the books, and Alan Rickman is awesome in his understated performances in the movies. In the end I’m willing to bet Snape will prove to be the true hero of these stories–or at least of the last couple books.

Harry will totally bite it in the last book. Rowling has said from day one that it is a 7 book series. That (sadly) does not mean a Universtiy Hogwarts series. I don’t want to see him dead either, but Harry’s death will finalize the story. If you think about it, it makes sense that Voldemort and Harry off each other.

I agree that I do not think Dumbledore is really dead. My money is on Voldemort and Hagrid. I also believe Harry will become the new Headmaster, both Malfoy’s will end up in Azkaban, and a few years from now she (Rowlings) will write another…… Besides we can’t get enough Harry.

Malfoy is a definite dead one. I guarantee Voldemort killed him the same night Dumbledore died. I can’t see Jo killing off Hagrid, Hermione or Ron, but Lupin might snuff it.

i think it will either be harry, woldemort, or snape

If Rowling kills off Harry in the last book the whole series will just be pointless to me.

Rowling actually said that 2 “more” characters die than she expected. She already knows of other deaths, but that one character who was on the chopping block she has unexpectedly saved. So, there are going to be more than 2 major deaths, I put money on that. I don’t think she’ll kill Harry in the end, but if he dies she shouldn’t kill Ginny. That would be cruel. If Harry does die, I’d put money on Ginny being dead meat as well.

I would hope that Ron and Hermione are not gone by the end of book seven. I understand it will be major characters, but I’m leaning towards Neville and possibly…….hmm….well isn’t it true that either Harry or Voldemort has to die in order for the other one to live peacefully? I hope its Voldy.

My money is on Snape. He will eventually “kill” the evil out of Voldemort to make up for killing Dumbledore. Dumbledore will be seen again, not so much as a phoenix, but as a ghost of some sort. AS referenced to the end of book 6 when Harry asks Filch about seeing dead people. I think the other one that dies will be Ron. I think one of the Weasleys is due to be killed. Just a thought…

Oh I see. It might be Snape versus Lucious because Lucious is loyal to Voldemort and Snape will try to protect Harry from him. Or this could just be a repeat of history type thing. Something tells me that Tom Riddle and Harry’s father were bitter rivals like Harry and Malfoy. Harry’s mother probably rejected Tom as a suitor and chose Harry’s father. Since Cho’s boyfriend was killed off in The Chamber of Secrets, Harry might be filling in his shoes but Malfoy wants her too. Voldemort posesses Malfoy and tries to kill Harry, but Cho gets in the way of Malfoys wand and gets killed. Harry in return kills Malfoy.

Would anyone put it past Jk Rowling or her evil character of Voldemort to kill the entire Weasly family? That would kill Harry’s best friend and galpal. Plus ending his relationship with his entire surrogate family. It would also traumatize Hermione, leaving Harry and Hermione to battle Voldemort. And at the end of the battle when Harry dies as a result of killing Voldemort (something he knows will happen before he does it)we are left with Hermione standing alone over the grave of Harry who is buried next to Albus Dumbledore on the grounds of Hogwarts.

Jo mentioned that one character got a “reprieve”.. i think that’s Hagrid. Ron and McGonagall are the people she’s killed but didn’t intend to.. i think.

  • Patricia

I think Harry has to die in order to complete the hero’s journey. Can you imagine how boring his life would be once he’s killed Voldemort, and there is no evil left to fight in the world? It was his whole purpose–to kill the man (thing?) who killed his parents. Even love with Ginny wasn’t enough for him. So I think that it will be Harry and Voldemort AND two more characters who Jo didn’t “expect” to die. Ron and Hermione? And the one who got a reprieve, Ginny? Oh, the whole thing makes me sad…

  • Valerie

I definitely think Hagrid is gone ! It’s sad, but he usually slows the storyline… The other one is likely to be Snape, in a heroic way, since he has to redeem himself. That’s apart from Voldemort, of course ! I don’t think she will Harry, it would be a marketing nightmare for her book ! :o )

I think that Harry’s Aunt Petunia has to be involved. Rowling has hinted that she might be a witch and has been hiding it from her family. She is probably one of the people who dies. I can’t (won’t?) believe that Rowling will kill Harry. If we do see Harry die, I believe it will be a long time after he kills Voldemort. Some of the Weasleys will die. It will probably be the parents since they have become surrogate parents for Harry, and we know that these surrogates always die (Sirius, Dumbledore).
