Hey! You there! Make me famous.

182114__viral_video_scott_2_lHow? you ask. Well, it’s really very simple. Just watch this viral video I made with EW senior editor Jason Adams and video artist/samurai Jason Averett. It’s called "Cheater!" (or "Whose Leg is this?" on Google Video) and, boy, oh boy, it’s got a mannequin in it! And my kitchen! And me, being spontaneously un-funny! Critics call it "cynically overproduced" and say it "reeks of effort." And if there’s one lesson we can take from the summer so far, it’s this: When the critics hate something, that means it’s going to hit big.

Oh, and as long I’m shamelessly plugging: You might want to read this article Jason and I wrote about our quest to become viral-video stars. It’ll also be in this week’s print magazine. What’s a "print magazine," you ask? Well, it’s like having the Internet in your hand — not the whole Internet, just a tiny, tiny part of it.

Any-hoo, the story recounts our efforts (Jason’s and mine) to custom-design a web short to "go viral." Turned out to be harder than we expected, trapped as we were between the company lawyers and my limited acting skills. In the middle of writing the story, Brookers landed her big Carson Daly deal. The only offers we were getting came in the form of email offering "chaep as free cialis viagra girls n’ goats," and we were getting those before the video went live.

Point is, I’m still not superultramegafamous. I won’t be walking down the red carpet at the ‘Tubies anytime soon. So I get to stay here with y’all — my real friends. In a bit, I may put up a video of me, in my underwear, crooning a forlorn and downbeat version of "Bootylicious." I expect only positive comments. I am very fragile today.

(sigh) At least Jason got a new friend out of it.

It’s funny. Based on his writing, I always sort of pictured Scott Brown as an intellectual type with the aura of Bruce Wayne, dispatching his oh-so-clever bloggings from the den of stately Wayne Manor.
Wow – way off. I’m sure I’ll always enjoy his work, but who would have thought he was working the Clint Howard vibe in a kitchen containing multi-colored cabinet knobs and microwave that looks like it’s 10 feet off the ground.

Scott, it was an outrage you weren’t #1 on the Forbes list. You have done more for viral videos than that Cruise loser. Why are they called “viral”? Anyway. Scott, you’re the man. Keep up the the work. Stay off the ledge.

Can I be the key master to Becca’s gatekeeper?
PS, I have the same hairstyle as Scott Brown, and that totally wierds me out..

Look, someone as popular and famous as Scott clearly couldn’t use his own palatial estate for this shoot. Someone would clearly see the positioning of the sun against his sub-zero fridge, which in turn would reflect the acres upon acres of forest just outside his window, and, using this information plus Google Maps could find him within ten minutes, and then, the stalking would commence in full force. Just not a viable option for this reclusive superstar.
As the man who used to deliver Cristal to his estate (this is of course before the Jay Z ban, and what Jay decries, Scott abides), I can tell you it’s a swank pad befitting a man of such elegance, taste, and sophistication.
And like, he totally has an XBOX 360 up in his hizzouse.

Yeah, Scott’s also got a grotto with a gadjillion hotties (Becca’s a dog compared to some of the women I’ve seen walking arm in arm with the main man), and a pool. Oh wait, that’s the Malibu Stacy mansion from the Simpsons. Nevermind…

The video was pretty amusing, but the article was hi-LA-rious. I literally couldn’t control myself while reading about your viral video “journey.” The very idea of EW creating a viral video was pretty good and though the outcome might not be the caliber of “Shining,” etc. the fact that you all actually did it – with such fervor and heart – is hilarious.
