The new Beyonce leaketh! (It’s a radio dub, so prepare for mild static.) It’s called "Deja Vu"! And it’s… serviceable! Mediocre even! Horn flashes a la "Crazy in Love"! Beats a la… everything! And Jay-Z’s contributions flow nicely, but don’t really stick to the song’s Teflon surface.
But, admittedly, I am hardly the target audience. Wish Slezak were here. I’d love to see the look on his face, what with his Dreamgirls condition.

I agree with Scott. Upon the first (and second and third) listen, I was immediately transported to 1991 when this song could have easily been recorded by, um, Jody Watley, Vanessa Williams, CeCe Peniston or Patti LaBelle. They’re all fine artists, however even they would say this sounds dated and would prolly just keep it on the album but not make it a single. It’s so dated that even Jay-Z can’t bring it into the new millenium and why is she literally screaming toward the end. I love Beyonce and eagerly look forward to “Dreamgirls” however I’m good without hearing this… alright, Janet, whaddagot?

I hate this song – just heard it on B96 in Chicago. It is not melodic at all. The best part of the song is when Jay-Z raps.

I don’t know what y’all heard, but I heard another “Crazy in Love”! I mean, it might not be as big, cause “CiL” was her debut, but I think it’s tight and catchy.
I also love Christina’s song, I really don’t know what y’all don’t like about the songs. Ah well, to each their own. Gnarls Barkeley has an Outkast feel, and not everybody likes that kinda stuff. I see the summer songs being Christina’s, Beyonce’s and Nelly Furtado’s.
Beyonce single is going to go to the top of the charts, as well as her album. Becuz well she’s Beyonce. I do feel that this single is much like “Its like that” was for Mariah Carey’s album. It led to a much better second single “We Belong Together”. It doesnt always take a killer first sinle for an established artist. The second and third single is where they can really pick up steam. This song is good enough to get people listening to her and eager about her Album. Then booms he will release the killer second single alllegedly “Ring the Alarm” And all hell will break loosse. Similiar to how the world shifted on its axis when “We Belong Together” Dropped. It may need to grow on some people. But thats how “Crazy In Love” was. Many people hated that song initially but it had growing power. So dont count Beyonce out just now. I like the song though. Christina’s song is good too. But its true Gnarles Barkley and Nelly Furtado have all but sealed off the summer anthem competition.
Bey should give it a break. I know why she is popular but it would nice if she takes a long break and put out something more original. I use to love early days with Destiny Childs.

Sure, this is better than that dreadful Check On It, but, that doesn’t take much. And, frankly, I’d rather listen to Paris Hilton’s Stars Are Blind than this again.
Both Christina’s and Beyonce’s new songs have been a disappointment. But, in all honesty, it’s hard to top the utterly hot and brilliant “Maneater” by Nelly Furtado. That, for me, is by far the song of the summer.

Ok. I stopped everything I was doing and listened to the song. I hated the begining and hoped it would be better. Nope. I really do NOT like this song. Not one bit. The chorus is a little catchy.. but I really don’t like this. And she does sound like she’s screaming in the end. I’m glad I don’t listen to the radio anymore. The radio is going to be playing this crap non-stop. Boo.
“Aint No Other Man” is much better. Also.. I agree with.. Scott. MANEATER is freakin’ HOT! I have been listening to that song like crazy. I love Nelly Furtado. So much better than this “Deja Vu” crap.
The song is okay! It’s not a club banger, but it’s decent. They need to back it up with a hot video! It will do well because she’s Beyonce. If it were any other artist it would flop!
At first I was a little let down by the Beyonce single, but after the radio dj literally played it three times in a row, it got stuck in my head and now I like it.
