Of course, if the farewells from Colin Powell, Ben Affleck, and Dakota Fanning (they’ll always have Central Park!) get a little too earnest for you, there’s also an SNL Weekend Update tribute to Couric — not to mention PopWatch’s live blog of her final Today broadcast, starting tomorrow morning at 7 a.m.

Good news: I can start watching the Today Show again. Bad news: I can never watch the CBS Evening News again. I am completely nonplussed as to why CBS felt the need to lavish so much money on that perky little pit bull.
I think Dan Brown messed up at the end of The DaVinci Code. Mary Magdeleine isn’t the Holy Grail – Katie Couric is!!!
This move by CBS is going to backfire. Most people want their network news from an older, “seasoned” newsmen. Bob Schieffer’s ratings have quietly risen, “Uncle Walter” was revered (and watched). I predict a ratings jump for ABC with Charlie Gibson anchoring their evening news, NBC will stay even, and CBS will suffer in third place.
I actually enjoy Katie. But then again, I have been out of the country for two years. It is amazing what you miss when you are deprived of pop culture!
Ok I wasn’t going to do this but I can’t shut up any longer. So many people blasted NBC’s Katie Couric Farewell send off that I feel I need to do this. Katie has been a REAL WOMAN, a real class act anchoring the Today Show. Meredith? Well let’s just say NBC, Katie, Meredith, The Today Show and soon ABC will here my two penny thoughts. Katie has been with NBC for 15 years, shouldn’t they send her off with a BIG fete?? What was overdone people?? Joan Lunden’s departure from GMA was similar. OK so not as many big names and past guest, interviewees. So what? That NBC’s signature on the project ok??? Frankly I hope NBC holds a place open for Couric and ditto to ABC for Viera because I think Today will need Couric after “The View” injects itself into The Today Show.
