And I am telling you I’m so going… to see Dreamgirls when it hits theaters in December, that is. Yeah, I know I’m being unforgivably earnest in my enthusiasm, but how to curb it, what with the way Dreamworks keeps doling out outtakes and backstage scenes from the Bill Condon-helmed version of the Tony-winning musical? The latest ”making-of” footage looks and sounds (mostly) promising, in particular, the gazillion gorgeous costumes and several catchy song snippets. Even better, it looks like the all-star cast is delivering dramatically, too: Former American Idol contestant Jennifer Hudson (center) more than holds her own staring down Oscar winner Jamie Foxx (at left), while Eddie Murphy looks like he’s finally found a role that stretches him beyond his recent run of toddler-skewing comedies. That said, one scene made me a little skittish — that stilted ”are you okay?” exchange between Beyoncé (at right) and J.Hud. Hey, Mr. Condon, if you’re listening, there’s still time for a reshoot. What did you think of the Dreamgirls making-of trailer? And is it on your must-see holiday movie list?

nope
Is it on my list?? Are you kidding, Slezak?! Most Wrongfully Eliminated Idol Contestant Jennifer Hudson, singing on the big screen?! Can I sign up NOW?!
Can’t wait to see this movie. I hope Jennifer Hudson doesn’t make Beyonce look bad with her oversized voice!!!
December cannot come fast enough!
I’m so excited for this movie. Jennifer will be a big star when this movie comes out. Movie looks very promising. Go Jennifer!!!
When Jennifer Holiday used to sing And I am Telling You I’m not Going, she’d get almost to the end, then take this huge inhale that sounded like she was dying. It was almost a gasp, like someone about to get hit by a car. It’s kind of punk, in a way, cause showtunes usually don’t usually get that gutteral and passionate. If J-Hud can tap into that, she just might be the first Idol-loser/Oscar winner.
I’m dying for this. DYING.
Wow im so excited about seeing this movie it isnt even funny.. I mean its almost like how I was the year or so before The Matrix Reloaded was going to be released.. Only that movie dissapointed me a bit, But im hoping this movie Delivers on so many levels, People will leave the theatre in a daze lol… Yes that beyonce/jhud encouter caught my eye, but im hoping that those .2 seconds are just preliminary… Wow.. Jaime, Beyonce, Jhud, Eddie, Anika, Danny…. So Amazing!!!
Slezak I was wondering why u werent covering Dreamgirls like the other entertainment sites…. Were you able to see the 4 scenes premiered at cannes? Keep up the good work!
Go J Hud! I can’t wait for this movie!
You could buy my ticket, buy me popcorn and a large soda and I will not go watch this movie cause I HATE Beyonce with a passion
Beyonce just join the ranks of Ashton Kutcher, Wilmer Valderrama and Paris Hilton. You go girl, No really get out, cause you suck at acting
I would love to see Jennifer Hudson, but I am sooo Beyonce`d out!! Since the hype is already starting in June, I think I will be too overwhelmed with Beyonce hype to see it in December. Maybe on dvd…
Beyonce will rock. She looked great! She will suffer a lot of prejudice with this film because people know she will be getting an Oscar. Anika is awesome. Jennifer, the reject and the bittered black female. It doesn’t take much to act like that. Tyler Perry has her beated, Jennifer Hudson, sorry.
I smell Oscar nominations for J Hud, Beyonce, Jamie and of all people, Eddie Murphy! He looks great in this movie. I just know Oprah is going to have the cast on to plug the movie, but this time, I’ll actually watch.
Sure can’t wait for this one to come out. You were dead on about Beyonce’s acting. She’s horrible. And this clip proves her acting hasn’t changed a bit. Jennifer Hudson on the other hand…shockingly good.
The reason why that scene looked odd is bec. it is meant to be sung, like the rest of the scenes…is not as climactic as the song in the show…”there were so many people…”
I am shocked that J. Hud looked so good. I was extremely skeptical about her acting, but it seems I was proven wrong. Beyonce, on the other hand…. boo.
Isn’t anyone else impressed by Anika? I mean, damn she can SING!! Backup singer indeed…too bad she can’t get some more press.
I SO LOVE JENNIFER HUDSON! I will go to this movie just to see her, and that voice. Like (the lesser voiced) Beyonce said Jennifer’s voice is “A Gift From God”
Jennifer will you have my baby?
Go Jennifer! Extremely talented.
I like Beyonce but her father keeps overexposing her — a new solo album, a new DC album, a new movie, a new single to promote that movie, more shampoo commercials — enough!
Thanks for alerting me to the new trailer. I will be there, first in line! I’ve seen the show 5 times, twice with Jennifer Holliday, and loved it. I’m overjoyed to see that “Heavy” will be in the film, it is my favorite number. Jennifer is the star I always knew she was. She is my American Idol.
I think the Jeennifer and Beyonce scene looks a little week, but it obviously isnt the final take. If you notice that scene was shot by the documentary filmers camera, since the cut to Bill Condon. I’m sure Bill knows what he is doing and will use the best take.
J Hud is going to clown Bee… Now we can finally separate the real from the superficial. Thank Goodness…. Whatever will she do without being able to resort to booty shaking?
Sean: Jennifer and Weak.
