The Silver Surfer may be the next of Marvel’s classic franchise characters to make the leap from the comics to the movies. Variety reports that he may appear in Fantastic Four 2, due July 4 of next year. That film could launch the trippy, philosophical hero into his own film franchise, something Fox has been trying to do for a decade.
So, fanboys, who should play the chrome character? Richard Gere? (He’s got the Zen thing down, and his hair’s already silver.) Sean Penn? (No one can do surfer-speak like Spicoli.) Keanu Reeves? (The role would make an nice bookend to Point Break.) Robert Patrick? (The T2 star has experience playing a guy with glossy metallic skin.) Anyone else?

Wentworth Miller from Prison Break. The eyes and the monotone voice, perfect.
Whoever it is will have to have a perfectly toned body, since SS is basically naked. I’d go with someone in his late 20s who acts older. And I hope FF2 is better than the first one.

Ah, Gary, I gotta catch you on this one. Richard Gere had an obession with Silver Surfer in one of his earlier works, I think possibly American Gigolo (as a non-fan of Gere’s I only saw the first fifteen minutes, which included him picking up a Silver Surfer comic, then taking it with him).
Apparently, rumor had it Vin Diesel was in the running for Silver Surfer. Maybe it’s the bald thing… Though i’m sure people would pay big money to see Vinnie half-naked, covered in platinum paint from head to toe. Think the Tin-Man for grownups…
I suggest J. August Richards, from Angel. He played one of Zod’s lackey’s in a manner similar to how I imagine the Silver Surfer… All he’d have to do is find the Surfer’s voice to make it work.
Wentworth Miller is a great choice, but his co-star, Dominic Purcell would work pretty well too. All I want is a better writer and a better director.
Silver Surfer is one of the few comic characters that I dread seeing on a movie screen. He’s alright for a comic book page, I just think it may look stupid in a film.
I like Dougray Scott myself, especially since he missed out on playing Wolverine in the “X-Men” series.
Richard Gere’s Silver Surfer obsession was in the 1983 remake of Jean-Luc Godard’s “Breathless.” But the only memorable thing about the movie was Valerie Kaprisky!
If Fox is angling for a franchise, they might want an unknown. They also might want to FF2 better than the original.

Of course, a Silver Surfer probably means Galactus; I’m curious to how HOllywood would envision the Devourer of Worlds … and maybe a little scared

I have waited since I was a little kid to see Silver Surfer on the big screen! I can’t wait. I think Keanu would be perfect!
