Further research (cough, Google) has revealed the complex etymology of the name Suri. The boys at the lab have turned up quite a few possible origins. Is it possible the happy Cruises were:
…drawing attention to the alpaca preservation issue?
…or the equally pressing plight of the Bolivian ostrich?
…trying to assist an Ethiopian tribe with spiritual guidance?
…expressing their admiration for an Indonesian newscaster?
Alpacas? Indonesian newscasters? Hey, you know what? I just felt that twinge: Done, finished, kaput. I’ve had my fill, followed it all the way to the bottom. The joke is over. To paraphrase Chief Joseph: I will TomKat no more forever.

As written in the local paper here today, may be that Tom is conjering up some fond memories of his hometown “Syracuse”…Suri Cruise.
Sur- the pref. comes from latin meaning Above, surpass, & upper. But true latin translation is…Super.Tom’s Ego is not exclusive. Neopotism at it’s best. But let’s give the lil’ one a chance, maybe she’s more Kat than Tom. Hopefully more Meow than Scatch and pounce.
