The saddest thing about Die Hard/Thomas Crown Affair director John McTiernan’s guilty plea in the Anthony Pellicano scandal? His conviction for lying to the FBI stems from a dispute over the making of Rollerball, the crappiest movie on his résumé. Dude could go to prison for five years over a freakin’ Chris Klein/LL Cool J movie. Just think how much suffering and anguish could have been avoided — for McTiernan and for the 17 of us who saw that movie — had Rollerball never been made.

Make that 18.
I’m sad for the brain cells floating around in my head forced to carry the memory of the movie. *sigh* Sadly, those are the cells that always seem to elude the weekly alochol raids from my weekend outtings with my shipmates.
Advanced light theory and trigonometric tangeants, sure…but not “Rollerball”. Stupid brain cells…stupid stupid brain cells.
As for McTiernan, well, I can’t sympathize with a man who stoops to such a level and then lies about it. Seriously, would it have hurt him THAT much if he told the truth? I mean, any more so than “Rollerball” hurt him? Such is the question you pose, GS, and I agree.
Yet another proud soul brought low by the “Rollerball” curse. All I can say is: Naveen Andrews, better watch your back.
I liked the movie.
He’ll get probation. If he does get prison time, I say we bust him out. We need Die Hard 4.
Hey man, that crappy movie may have been what inspired Action Figure and company to produce that totally awesome Roller Girls tv show. If we are going to incarcerate LL Cool J movie makers, we should also toss in the directors of such LL Cool J crapfests The Hard Way, Halloween H20, and Deep Blue Sea.
They’re jingling baby!
If Rollergirls was inspired by Rollerball, I’m guessing it was because of the original version. I can’t imagine the 2002 version inspiring anything but tears and maybe a little vomit.
