Katherine Heigl, movie star? We'll be the judge of that!

85339__kat_lFrom today’s Hollywood Reporter comes news that Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl has been tapped to replace Anne Hathaway as the female lead opposite Seth Rogan in Knocked Up, the latest from The 40 Year-Old Virgin‘s Judd Apatow. As far as I’m concerned, Heigl’s a great choice for a movie star: She’s equally adept at both facets of romantic comedy, she’s ridonkulously pretty, and every Sunday night, she exhibits a brand of outsized charisma that shouldn’t be reserved exclusively for TV audiences. And anyhow, she’s already proven her big-screen viability opposite a Hollywood legend. What do you think? Is Heigl on her way to movie stardom, or is she destined for the ”big on TV” label?

On her way? As the “star” of both My Father the Hero and Under Seige 2: Dark Territory, I’d say she’s already there dude!

She’s already been in movies. My favorite is My Father the Hero. That movie is such a guilty pleasure!

She was also in Bride of Chucky, and she was pretty good in that movie.

Yeah you might have wanted to check her imdb profile before you posted – she’s been in several movies before but the angle you could have gone after is that after less than stellar movie roles, can she finally emerge as a movie star? the answer is a no-brainer – yes, of course!

I don’t think Heigl’s previous film roles have made her much of a film star yet, regardless of what her most rabid fans may post here.

Hey hey hey, if you read one of the earlier posts, it looks like Katharine is also in “John Tucker Must Die” and while it looks like a teen movie, it could be pretty good. So there’s another one under her belt. She’s created a following from Grey’s Anatomy (and Roswell) so her fans would also go see her in this movie. I know I would.

While I love her in ‘GA’ and think she’d be great in a comedy, I would love her to play the icy blonde in a strong drama. She could be the next Helen Hunt (who moved from light TV fare to starring and winning an Oscar in movies if you’re trying to see the connection).

    ridonkulously? really michael? …seriously?

People forget that she ruled the 5th and best season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and stole the show. She is beautiful for she reminds me of Patricia Clarkson, clearly too good for hollywood, she should take the independent film route to an Oscar Nomination.

And exactly how was Katherine able to appear on “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” when she was starring in “Roswell” during that time?

  • TMC

Clare Kramer was on Buffy during Season 5.

Hey, hey, I love this girl!
The fact that her carrer still hasn’t taken off at the big screen doesn’t she isn’t movie star material! I mean, you can only get there if you get the right role, and it just didn’t happen that she gotten one for herself yet.
But this might just be it.
I mean, I know everytime I see her on grey’s, I just wnat to ask her to marry me, so badly…
She will make a great movie star!

She was the star of this small low-budget indie movie called Side Effects already. I really liked her in it — I was impressed at her level of acting in the movie compared with the “size” of the film itself. But, hey, I guess she needed to work and was really charming at it.

Michael got it right – she is “ridonkulously” gorgeous. Even with whatever medical stuff gets on her, she’s knock-down, drag-out, tongue-hit-the-floor beautiful.

ah, My Father The Hero. Alavet! :)
