There’s a hundred different ways to try to handicap the winner of American Idol’s fifth season: AOL’s weekly poll, DialIdol.com, the message-board comments on EW’s TV Watches. And now, believe it or not, eBay.
According to sales figures from the online auction site, gray-haired dude Taylor Hicks (pictured) leads the eight remaining contestants in total items sold (388) and average sale price ($19.70) over the last month. He’s followed by Chris Daughtry (309), Ace Young (224), Kellie Pickler (120), Katharine McPhee (80), Bucky Covington (73), Elliott Yamin (23), and Paris Bennett (10). Granted, the eBay method is hardly scientific — I can’t imagine most of Idol’s non-teenage-girl fans are clamoring to purchase a glass pendant commemorating Ace Young’s Earnest Crooner Gaze No. 147™ — but just in case, I might have to go bid on that ”Elliott Yamin Is My Idol” t-shirt. Not for me, of course, it’s for, um, a friend. You got a problem with that?

It’s pretty much a given that Taylor is either going to win or be the runner-up this season. Everything is pointing towards that. Taylor is going to be playing it safe tonight by singing “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” so his frontrunner position won’t be affected.
Kellie Pickler might take the fall after she sings “Bohemian Rhapsody” tonight. And Ace should put the nail in his coffin after he sings an R&B version of “We Will Rock You.”
Bucky will sing “Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” Paris will sing “Somebody to Love.” Ace will sing “Bohemian Rhapsody” (thus solidifying him as Constantine Cubed). Chris will sing “Stone Cold Crazy” but the Metallica version. Elliot will sing “You’re My Best Friend.” Taylor will sing “Fat Bottomed Girls” for his friend Mandisa! (In reality he’ll sing “Under Pressure”) Kellie will sing “We Are the Champions” and Katharine will sing “I Want to Break Free” or “Radio GaGa”

Ace is the worst. He really should go home. Bucky may not be the best singer in the competition, but he at least seems sincere and unaffected. I can stand one more week of Bucky – I’ve had more than my fill of Ace.

However, if what Christine says is true then Paris is in trouble: “The Show must go on, is one of THE most powerful and most difficult songs that Bryan May ever wrote. If anyone is a true Queen fan that song was on their last studio album “Innuendo”, a year later Mercury passed away. The song was his farewell, and it might be too big for Paris. If she pulls it off then her votes are going to go throught the roof!

Taylor shouldn’t win as he’s NOT the best vocally. Chris & Elliott are the best male’s in this. Chris should win hands down.

I hope this is Kelly’s last week. I really hope she gets voted off tonight. The girl has an IQ of 1. Shes ridiculous and after last nights performance we should all be able to tell she cant sing either.
I don’t understand America???!! Mandisa should have never gone home, she should have been up there with Elliot, Chris, Katherine and Paris. Those are the ones that can sing. And I thought this was a search for a pop star – where is all the country coming in from? Taylor?????!!! what century are we in? I must be living on the wrong side of the planet. Over all, I think this is the worst year for Idol. I’ve been sadly disapointed with the overall song choices and quality but I’m still a faithfull watcher!

Actually, I’m as bored as Simon seems to be. What’s up with the song choices and calibar this year – and who’s voting? OR should I say NOT voting? Mandiva is way better than alot of these guys up there. As for last night’s performances, It did not entertain me very much, I’m still waiting for what Simon calls the WOW factor. Chris was good but boring and please leave the eyeliner off! Same with Ace, off w/ the make-up & come out of the dazed twilight zone look, song was a failure. Other than looking like he’s about to bust a vein, Elliot was and is a great singer, Katerine was refreshing but didn’t hit the mark, Paris and Kelly both went out of their comfort zone and didn’t “look” themselves either, they were just alright as Randy would say. I’m sorry, nice guy, but I don’t know how Bucky is still standing up there. And I’d really like to know who are these people that are voting for Taylor????
Ace was the worst. I like Taylor being Taylor, and I think he’ll do well in the future. He’s quite entertaining. I’m tired of Kelley, she needs to go. Paris has quite a career ahead of her.
Idol needs to get rid of Kellie and Bucky immediately. This country shenanigans is horrific, they both have little or no talent, and their routine has gotten old. Kellie was a complete and total embarassment last night in her black eye makeup, hair extensions and leather look. Bucky was a disaster from the outset. Say what you will, but Idol needs a tag team effort to remove these two. Chris was magnificent!
Paris’s voice was awesome and she showed off her talent.
Why does everyone love Taylor? He would be great in a Broadway Musical, along with Kat, but the next Idol will be Chris.. he is the most talented.. but I think he has to show something besides rock.
Overall, they all fall a little short. I’m sure Bucky or Elliot will go tonight, or maybe Ace.. who knows??

Chris was amazing!!!! If Queen’s gig with Paul Rodgers is only temporary, they need to take this guy under their wing and make him their new lead singer. Simon was sucking his thumb because he wanted Chris to do “hammer to fall”, “tie your mother down” or “stone cold crazy”. Ace was awful with a capitol aw! Send him home people, send him home now! If I wanted to hear “We will Rock you” butchered, I’ll tune to Radio Disney! Paris’es version of “the show must go on” was what like Simon said last year about Carrie and “Alone”, it was like a kitten wanting to become a tiger”. It was a brave song choice, but it was too mature for her.
Taylor is the best. He might not be the best dancer, but atleast he puts some emotion into his performance. Pickler was totaly horrid. Chris was definatly a close second in my book.
I love Taylor! I think he is sincere, and lovable. He does have a good voice, his dance moves………? but he is entertaining! Paris has a pretty good voice, but she is too young to really take on the challenge of and “Idol”. I like Chris, sometimes, but I don’t think I would buy his album, because with rock music, all the songs sound the same. I think Kellie is cute, and i like her personality, but she looks too much like all the others that have won recently. Katharinea good singer and has a great voice! She has her own look too, which is refreshing. Bucky is cute, but don’t we have enough country singers? I like Elliot. He is a novel person. He is just himself and doesn’t “try” to be someone else. He sings well too. Ace needs to go! He makes me sick! I feel like he is just trying to be a “cookie-cutter” from last year! Cut that hair!!!!!!

I have voted for Taylor all the way thru this and hope he makes it as the next American Idol. He is an entertainer who can sing and dance. Nice guy too. I like Bucky and Kelli too but Taylor is the best of the bunch.
I think Taylor is an inspiration to us all….he is what America needs…a refreshing wake up call to the music industry. He is a genuine, talented brilliant artist/performer/musician. He is a cut above the rest, a class act. His voice is being heard around the world and people want MORE!!!!!!!!!!
