Stamos, report to 'ER' -- stat!

Categories: Television

145838__john_lI haven’t watched ER in eons, and the addition of John Stamos to the permanent cast probably won’t change that. But I’m one of those people who believe everything in life tastes better with a little Stamos. (Sometimes, I add Stamos to my food before I even taste it.) I never watched Jake in Progress either, but I firmly believe it was better for having had John Stamos in it.

Would I return to ER after an eight-year absence strictly for the Stamos? Probably not. What I will do is imagine what a Stamo-licious ER might look like. Now, from what I understand, he plays a paramedic who’s also a Gulf War I veteran and a medical student. Sounds like a meaty, complex role, worthy of The Stamos.

[Open on exterior STAMOS, driving an AMBULANCE.]

STAMOS:  Hello, ladies!

[LADIES giggle. STAMOS produces large, shiny guitar]

STAMOS: I was in a war.

[LADIES get very serious. Maybe some sad music here. Beat.]

STAMOS: Who wants to hear me play "Jesse’s Girl"?

LADIES: Me! Me! Me!

[MING NA approaches sexily]

STAMOS: Are you even on this show anymore?

MING NA: Does it matter?

STAMOS: Hell no!

[MAKE-OUTS all around. Tasteful fade to credit sequence.]

Is this accurate? Someone who actually watches this show, please, write in, let me know if I should go ahead and drop this in the mail to NBC.

    ER is still on?!
Errr, where have I been? Obviously not watching must-see TV….

  • Maya

Considering that Ming-Na is not in the show anymore (it has been over a year that she left), your scene is not accurate ;)
ER has indeed not been the same in the last few years. Why it was renewed for more seasons after Carter left is beyond me. They keep having the same storylines over and over again. Stamos’ addition could have added a breath of fresh air if they had his character stay a paramedic, so ER could have shown how paramedics work and show cases from the moment paramedics pick them to when they are cured… but no, they decided to make him be a doctor, so it will not add that much except some eye candy!

Uhh, maya, he said IN the blog that Ming-Na isn’t the show anymore.
    Funny stuff.

  • Buffy

I think if ER scenes went like this, I may actually watch the show again.
Good stuff, Scott. Good stuff. You’re killing lately, man, killing.

Rick Springfield sang Jesse’s Girl, a better Stamos song would be Dennis Wilson’s “Forever” which he sang repeatedly as Uncle Jesse…
How embarassed am I that I can speak quasi-intelligently as to the Stamos catalog?

i’ve always been a big stamos fan. i’m glad to see he’s on a primetime show. i’ve been noticing that many like him are appearing on the bold and the beautiful.

I think Stamos is going to do great. He can draw on his extensive acting experience from General Hospital to totally pull it off on ER! His character on the show – Blackie had a guitar too!

This is good news … I loved his flirtation with Neela when he was in a few episodes earlier this season. Hopefully his hotness will draw more viewers in. I am one who is still in love with ER and will be until the end.

I have been watching ER since the beginning, and will stop watching when Goran Visnic leaves. John Stamos is a good addition, but nothing or no one compares to my little Goran!

I have been watching E/R since the beginning, all through the good, the bad, and even the ugly. I miss some of the originals Hathaway, Ross, and of course Carter and there have been some caracters that left something to be desired and there are some still on that we could do with out,but you know what? That is how life is not all perfect. I think John Stamos will add to the mix well he is cute and a fairly good actor so bring it on as I still look forward to my Thursday night E/R fix.

As far as I’m concerned the most worthwhile thing Stamos ever did was his little seen guest appearance on the unjustly scuttled Clone High.
Beyond that, he’s still cooler than Dave Coulier and more sober than Jodie Sweetin.

There’s no reason John Stamos shouldn’t become the next George Clooney. He has the right mix of good looks and charm, and doesn’t seem to take himself too seriously. He just needs the right vehicle. I’m not sure ER is it.
It’s too bad his spy show (with Melissa George) and Jake in Progress didn’t take off. I think he would be better off carrying a new show than giving mouth-to-mouth to a dead fish like ER. Hopefully his arrival will spark some creativity in the writers’ office. This show should be more about the patients and less about the love lives of the staff… Gray’s Anatomy does that better anyway.

I go through phases where I watch ER every week, but then all of a sudden I stop. When I started again, I was amazed to see John Stamos on my TV. Can it be? Uncle Jesse? He was my main reason for watching Full House, even though I was only 8 years old. Now I’m 20 and this time my ER phase will last a whole lot more.

  • Annie

    John Stamos is a Nazi!

ER is actually one of the best shows on tv right now–you’re missing a lot. It is the only show that actually thinks about social issues. You’ve obviously missed the heartbreaking shows in Africa which were like mini-movies and talked about Darfur, Doctors Without Borders, the horrors of AIDS there–and the rape and killing of women and children. You’ve also missed the only multi-ethnic show on tv with a love story between a south asian woman and a black doctor, John Leguizamo’s cocaine partying doctor, and too many more social issues to mention here. It has only gotten better and more provacative and relevant with time–probably because noone watches it any more it can take risks.
