First. SNL hasn't been relevant in decades and I don't know who even would waste their saturday night watching this pap but so be it. Second. This kid is just another average comic talent of which there is no shortage. Kids grow up watching cable television with the mistaken belief that emulating mediocre comics is the a ticket to success and in some cases that appears to be true which shows you how low the threshold has become for being a "star". This guy is not bad but he is definitely not a star - nor does he have a personality that is going to distinguish him from hordes of other kids like himself - someone with average comedy chops at best. Frankly If I were a movie casting director I would avoid anyone whose claim to fame is just SNL, which is a very safe, white-bread show that trys to act like its hip.

Yo, I grew up with this kid, and I have to say that the silly "act" that people are talking about, is who he is, goofy to the bone. I feel eerily satisfied seing him on SNL, because it was what everyone assumed would happen. He's a good man, and extremely talented in making people laugh. He'll find his legs, and once he's past being given the "featured performer" characters, you'll see the gold. Keep on it Samberg!

Everyone is acting as if he NEEDS SNL to make it and like the Digital Shorts are his only saving grace, but he, Jorma and Akiva aren't exactly new at this, they've been doing it for quite some time.
Also, claiming that he isn't the best live performer hardly matters, being that the Digital Shorts are pre-recorded, just as the movie will be, and clearly that's where everyone thinks he shines. That being said, i don't like the plot of the movie very much at all, but when the three of them are together they're pretty much unstoppable.

While I will agree that it's a little early for Andy to be getting a film role, I think the movie's got potential! After all, the other Lonely Islands guys are in on it. And they can take some pretty random, dumb ideas and make them hilarious. Just look at the "SNL Digital Shorts," which have consistently been the funniest skits this season.
I say, let them do the movie, and then pass judgement. If it's funny, all is well. If not, Andy's still got his SNL job (and he's sure to be promoted to a full cast member).
Also... Anchorman is classic.
