Lindsay Lohan as Wonder Woman? I'll be the judge of that!

153717__lohan_lLook, I’m probably not the right person to ask about who ought to be playing the title character in Joss Whedon’s big-screen adaptation of Wonder Woman. (Two words: Lynda. Carter.) But this much I know: Lindsay Lohan is not the right woman to don the satin tights and fight for our rights, despite the fact that she recently told OK! magazine that she thinks the role would be ”cool.” C’mon, can you really picture Lohan’s dainty wrists holding up the iconic bullet-deflecting cuffs? Wonder Woman needs to be played by someone a little more Amazonian. My colleague Gary Susman was thinking Anne Hathaway, and while that’s a pretty inspired choice, I think Liv Tyler’s another name that ought to be on Whedon’s list.

Am I on to something, or have any of you got better casting suggestions? Don’t make me break out my golden lasso. You know I’ve got one, yo!

perhaps Whedon needs to go Old School…Buffy Old School and ask Miss Gellar who has literally no career and let’s be honest…Scooby Doo blows.

Shazam! Lindsay would completely be the wrong choice!! I love Joss Whedon & have no question that he’ll get the best out of whoever he picks, but ick! Charlize Theron or Angelina would have been perfect glamazon choices, but w/Aeon Fluxx & Lara Croft, they may not go there. Kate Beckinsale & Kate Winslet both have the saucy panache to give the role charisma.Liv is great, but she is so ethereal, I can’t see her making us believe in the power of the wrist cuffs. How about one of the Daschenal (sp?) sisters? They’ve got the coloring, beauty & the sense of fun. I mentioned on another board here that I adored Emma Caufield on Buffy. I’d love to see her get a part.

Much too young and not an amazonian uber-babe; Angelina Jolie seems to be an obvious choice.

  • Janet

I think Mr. Whedon should use Amy Acker

  • Miriam Gonzalez Fan Club

Miss March 2001 Playboy Playmate Miriam Gonzalez is the perfect choice for WONDER WOMAN! Just check out pics of her on line! Ay Caramba!

    Two words: Rachel McAdams.
    She’s seriously steely.

  • Jakeem

This has been rumored before, but Jessica Biel, none other than Esquire magazine’s Sexiest Woman Alive, would be an appealing Wonder Woman. After all, she’s tall, very athletic and occasionally ripped (see “Blade: Trinity”).
    ‘Nuff said!

Only one woman should be wrapping us up in a golden lasso. That’s the one and only Gina Torres.
In true, Simpsons comicbook guy style, allow me to list the reasons why Gina Torres:
    1) She worked with Joss on Firefly (has proper experience points).
    2) She’s a tall Latina like Linda Carter (fits the profile).
    3) She was hot in “Cleopatra 2525″ (proper “fisticuff in bikini” skills).
    4) She proved her acting chops in “the Shield” and pretended to find Michael Chickliss attractive (that’s method, people).
    5) She’s married to Morpheus AND she was in the Matrix.
Any of these other chicas got it going on like that? I don’t think so. BEST. CHOICE. EVER.

I second the votes for Emma Caulfield and Zooey Deschanel. Unfortunately, neither one of them has the box office chops to earn the role. Other suggestions include: Michelle Monaghan, Rachel Bilson (she looked so cute as wonder woman on the oc!), Sophia Bush, or Mandy Moore. For those of you who think they aren’t mature enough, please consider: Rachel Weisz (post-pregnancy), Sarah Michelle Gellar, or Linda Cardellini.

Also, Kate Mara looks the part. She was Heath Ledger’s daughter in Brokeback Mountain…but she’s not famous enough!

  • nathan

I think Lohan would be good for the part, that girl can fill out a bra.

  • Thad

Rachel McAdams, Christina Applegate (with black hair) or at least a ‘woman’ like Sandra Bulluck or Jessica Beil. No Lohan paleeeeze

Well wait – Wonder Woman is enough of a draw, you don’t need some box office gorilla. I’ve seen too much of Angelina and Charlize. Bored now!
We need to go to the drawing board and ask ourselves about the comic book, not about Miss Linda. I mean dudes, do you remember what a plastic fantastic and shallow Lyle-Waggoner-having piece of crap that show was? Or that Debra Winger was on that show? As a super heroette Drusilla? Yeesh don’t remind me.
The real Wonder Woman was an Amazon warrior who came off her island to help mortals during WWII. Think Xena or Captain America or even the Tick! – not bad 70s craptastic TV yickfests.
Think glamazons, yes Gina Torres, yes someone like Rebecca Romjin, though she’s already got a superhero gig. No teeny gals. No anorexic waiffles. Ya need someone with the height and the strength, and the acting chops.
But trust in Joss Whedon. He’s got a good crew, and he eats and breathes TV, movies music…. His instincts are supernaturally good.

Lauren Graham is the obvious choice. Not only is she beautiful but maybe she would add some personality to a pretty banal superhero. And Lindsey Lohan is too young and dumb for the role. She’s called Wonder WOMAN not Wonder Waif

  • Mike in Moncton

Let Lindsay Lohan do it and watch Whedon put her through the wringer to get her ripped and amazonian like she ought to for the part. She’s the right age for it too. Most of the suggestions in this message board are all too old – the part should go to someone no older than 21.
