USA Today has an early look at Superman Returns, including an interview with new Man of Steel Brandon Routh (pictured), in which he reveals how he received the late Dana Reeve’s blessing. (Like Routh, Christopher Reeve was a little-known 25-year-old soap actor when he landed the role of Clark Kent.) There’s also a nice gallery of stills from the June 30 movie, including pics of a brunette Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane and a bald Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, plus supporting players Parker Posey, James Marsden, Frank Langella, and Eva Marie Saint in character. If Routh is as good as the rest of the cast Bryan Singer has picked, Superman Returns should soar easily.

If the new Superman is 1/10th as good as the new Batman was, we should be in for a real treat…
This movie is sick…and i mean its sick as in i want to throw up. Who wants to see a movie that is on TV everday already. He is not Spiderman and he looks like a dork on here. A new superman should look ripped up and be like a bodybuilder. We need Schwarzennegger in this movie…well the younger Schwarzennegger that is. This movie is a flop from the beginning. I think we need the Three Stooges movie made now…we can like have Super Stooges…you know like..its a bird..its a plan…no way…its the Super Stooges. Superhero movies are all in the writing. People whined about Michael Keaton as Batman and Tobey McGuire as Spiderman. You have to wait for the actual movie. When does http://www.singlesPalace.com: The Movie come out. How is this not spam? I have seen this worked into several postings.
I can not wait for this freakin’ movie.
I don’t know why all the fanboys are whining about Routh being too small, or the costume changes or whatever.
I think the costume is perfectly update with a few minor problems (i.e. chestplate too small!!)But it looks cool and looks as modern as it can get.
Routh is a big guy, but he’s not huge. Superman doesn’t have to be huge. It’s not the muscles that make him strong. It’s the yellow sun. I’ll take a good actor over a meathead as Supes anyday.
The images so far have been beautiful.
And COME ON!! Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor? Brilliant.
Am I the only one who thinks Kate Bosworth looks really odd with brown hair? Something about her look just isn’t right… As for the rest of the movie – I will judge it when I see it.
I don’t recognize her as a brunette, but always figured she was probably a peroxide blonde anyguey.
What I do find odd is that she played Spacey’s love interest in “Beyond the Sea”. It never hit me that these two actors already have some history together.
Oh yes, Mike and Kyle both make tremendous points. The writing, good acting and a great villain will help sell this movie. And Spacey looks to be the best superhero villain since Nicholson played the Joker.
There’s no need for a body builder to play Superman, he gets his super strength from the sun, not from lifting weights, so having huge biceps wouldn’t make much sense.

I think that Brandon would be good. When I saw Wentworth Miller on Jay Leno last fall, Wentworth had auditioned for Brett Ratner, whom, at the time, was the future exucitive producer/director of “Prison Break”, and Brett had said that Wnentworth wasn’t right for Superman, but wanted him in the movie. Well, Brett quit 2 days later. I do see Wentworth playing Jimmy Olsen if he wasn’t on “Prison Break” already.
Just have the feeling that it will be a little cheesy. Just a hunch though, so don’t critize me yet.
