'Stardust"s star-studded cast

Robert De Niro, Michelle Pfeiffer, Claire Danes, and Sienna Miller are all lined up to star in an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Stardust, Variety reports. Layer Cake‘s Matthew Vaughn is directing the fantasy about a lovestruck youth, a fallen star, a witch, and a pirate. No word on whether Gaiman pal Tori Amos will be cast as the character she inspired: a talking tree.

Still, this is a pretty high-wattage cast, and along with the star power brought to bear on A History of Violence (Viggo Mortensen) and V for Vendetta (Natalie Portman), it can mean only one thing: Graphic novels are hot! Okay, fanboys, that’s your cue to roll your eyes and tell us all how misconceived this project is, and what daunting obstacles it will have to overcome to be faithful to Gaiman’s vision. Have at it.

Hey, “Ghost World” worked. As long as they just stay away from “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen”-land, hopefully it’ll be okay.

I don’t read graphic novels much. I’ve read two of Gaiman’s literary novels (you know, written in prose without pictures…) and I’m a Tori fan, so I’m looking forward to this.

This should be an awesome adaptation, seeing as how Gaiman was asked to spiff up Vaughn’s script and is extemely gung-ho about doing so. It’s not a graphic novel though. They did make a series of comics based on it, but it is a regular novel. Not a graphic novel.

Tori Amos is a fascinating creature, I’d love to see how she’d do in something like this. I’m also glad that Michelle Pfeiffer is still working, she’s hotttttt.

There is both a illustrated and a regular novel of this book. I don’t think I’d call it a graphic novel though. I’m all for graphic novels being made into movies, if they do them well. V for Vendetta shouldn’t have been made. Poor Alan Moore, I hope they stop taking his brillant work and turning it into crap.

Sienna Miller? What has she done besides break up with Jude Law?
